welcome to buggynews, I would start by removing the pilot jet and make sure the small openings are clean. Will it stay running if you feather the throttle?
the reverse cable could be stuck or broken, might try rmoving it from the handle end and spray some lube in it

Yes welcome, check on what Erc said first.Does the engine rev when you give it gas?Does it go into reverse? If it does rev and does not go into reverse maybe a mouse ate your belt.

It will run when you feather the throttle, but i took the carb. back off today to check if there was anthing else wrong, come to find out the diafram had a hole in it.It was fine the first time i checked it,I guess it was gust brittle after sitting so long.As far as the reverse goes,it would pull in reverse,so there is nothing wrong there. The belt on the cvt drive looks great,no cracks or anything looks brand new,so the rat did not eat it I checked the clutches and they look good,i took some sandpaper and lightly brushed them, also checked to see if they were frose up,they were tight but seemed to be in good working order. If anyone has anymore information or knows anything else I can do besides take it to a mechanic that I can not afford it would be greatley appreciated!!!! Also Thanks to the guys that responded to my problem!!!

if your buggy has set that long maybe the grease in the gearbox has dried up causing it to hang in reverse. when you pull it in reverse you are collasping the spring on the shift fork and when it is in forward the spring is extended everything has got to work smoothly back anf forth, also gearbox it has 2 bearings. might not hurt to pull it a part and check the grease and clean it and put new grease in it. they are not hard to take a part ,just take your time. here is a diagram that i think will help you. welcome to the addiction pud
