We made it to our "1/2 way home" overnite spot no prob. Just settling in, we'll try to post some of our pics soon (but we/I didnt get that many pics thiz yr)

Hi Marisa cool pic, Welcome to BN (hope trip home was good for y'all)
Thanks for bringing Kyle (Low-3o-z) out to play with us !!!
you two are awesome,,, its was soo cool to finally meet...

love that pic Marisa---> had to show to Tj -- altho he is 'usually' very helpfull in tough situations (tow back to camp, up a steeper grade than the pic does justice to)...
pic shows him merely watching as Pg & Low3o push as Im loosing momentum digging in...
Sorry it took us soo long to get back to camp yesterday & thank you for being such a Great sport (it was raining, kind of miserable out, and we werent making very good forward progress-etc-etc)...
truely not the kinda "first day Bashing on the Beach" kinda experience we would wish for you (we usually try to break newby's in more gently  )

Funnyman
Pg is probably still on the road, I know intentionally he saved the paddles for Adambeck to use...

About the farthest we ventured from camp was when my CVT belt snapped. We had many dunes to cross to get back to camp and the worst hill was on the access road because it was chewed up by others.

As Team Farm posted, I reversed my trail tires so AdamBeck could use my paddles. His SandViper is not set up for sand and was struggling with aggressive trail tires. The paddles gave the kids a chance to have fun in the sand instead of being sidelined.

My 25" Bear Claws got me around in low range even when carrying two people or towing, but I knew that CVT was working and it was just a matter of when I needed a belt. Dune Slayer had a cordless impact that allowed us to swap a belt in the dunes the day before, but he had left to return home before this break. I'm going to watch sales and pick up a cordless model.

The repair list was minimal for having 12 buggies attend. The 125cc Dazon developed a fuel tank leak. The 150cc Carter went through two belts and lost the bead on one tire. One 250cc Joyner had fuel intake issues that were fixed by using a larger ball valve petcock and fuel filter, but it also went through two C T belts. My 250cc Joyner snapped the CVT belt (recovery pictures earlier). The 340cc Joyner is still having transmission and gearing tweaked to get more RPM's out of the engine. The 400cc Yamabuggy needed a spare battery. A 650cc Joyner needed shift link adjustment and battery cap replacement and an occasional jump start. The 650's were also main recovery vehicles when the smaller ones could not handle tow back - All of them had smoking clutches at some point when pressed into service. In the end two buggies were down due to CVT belts and were the only ones not able drive under their power although all the engines survived the sand.

After all was said and done...

Watch the weight of it! :P You'll need to remove something of equal weight, your pushing it already :P My 24v cordless weighs 11 lbs

Like our discussion in camp, I say its jetting right now. Sure, in low range (24:1) the engine will rev up to almost 7000 (normal operating rpms), but the head temp. raises quickly [-X
Did great for its first time out. Didn't get stuck, or break anything 8)
One pic shows me putting the Fox shocks thru thier paces, another I'm entering the dunes up the steeper section and made it =D>

Team Farm; Thanks for the great pictures, keep them coming. I hope the vids get posted too!

Low3oz where are you? :)

Welcome aboard Marisa! Carrol and I really enjoyed the limited time we had (our fault) with you and Kyle.

Hey Guys! I'm here.. all is well and we're back home, unloaded and happy as can be.

First and foremost i'd like to thank everyone for being so welcoming and accommodating on our first ride of this type. We had so much fun and it was really cool getting Marisa out to see these new things. She had a BLAST!

I only managed to catch about 5 videos, and as i was watching them last night i think i was turning it on instead of off or vice versa.. haha oops! I know there's plenty of footage of us pushing pete's rig. I'll spend some more time playing with the video this weekend.

Thanks to everyone for being so welcoming and inviting, loaning us your expertise on the subject of sand, and even letting us crowd your campfire(s) to keep warm :) I was really surprised at how well my rig did through all of this! It was certainly a bummer that there were so many casualties, but the comfort level of riding in a group that large quells any concerns I would have had.

That said, i'm ready to go back! Thanks again to The Farm Team (hehe), Pete, Adam & Family, Jeff and Carrol, and anyone else i might have inadvertently forgotten.

-kyle

I just finished unloading all of the gear and leftover food and beverages. Better to bring more than you need unless you're watching your weight like Dune Slayer.

Back to work tomorrow. I had to stop way too many times on the trip back to converse with my colleagues about work issues.

Thought I'd share this comparison of Riley Ranch's sand entrance/exit road to the one I normally use for day trips or weekend outings that is about a half mile south on the highway.

Riley's

This is the Myrtlewood Factory's sand entrance/exit. My wife is standing in the dunes.

My wife turned around and took this next pic to show what is found to start your ride in the main dunes area at the MF.

To enter/leave the main dunes at rileys you encounter this hill, little buggies usually stay to the left as it is easier to get up (I'm in the center path of the hill). In the summer these two hills will be very challenging to the 250 and smaller buggies!

Rileys is less forgiving on a little buggy but comes with power and water. The Myrtlewood Factory is more for dry camping/selfcontained rigs and generators are allowed too! This area is better suited for the 250's and smaller, but still leads to the difficult stuff we like to play on!

It was great to meet Adambeck and his awsome family, Kyle (low3oz) and Marissa, and DuneSlayers wife. Thanks for the hillarious camp fire stories and the help with my starter issue. It was another epic trip.
