make it 800x600, it will still fit inside of the normal post window, and its an actual used size for images. 800x600 will fit on a 15" monitor fine even, and its not so big that people on dial up cant download it.

500x500 isnt even a preset size #-o

Jabo,

Maybe a picture scaler would be a good idea.
To display large pictures no wider than the board width.
Those large pics mess up the board layout!

Is that a forum tool or plugin that works automatically? And even on hotlinks to photobucket for example?

Hi Guy48,

I'm not a phpBB board owner, but I build database driven website as part of my business, so I know it's possible to automatically rescale on upload. However a in most cases prerequisite for this is GDlib or Imagemagick to be present on your hosting server. Mostly either one of them is.

Found this for phpBB:
http://www.phpbb.com/mods/db/index.php? ... ib_id=1633

or just basic rescaling (basic).
http://www.phpbb.com/mods/db/index.php? ... ib_id=1645

http://www.phpbb.com/mods/db/index.php? ... ib_id=1673

Not for hotlinks... but just to save your bandwidth and have all uploaded pics comply to your template layout. The 'shown on...' function is a great way to deter others from hotlinking to you. Or just plain steal images.

While your at it take look at this... ;-)

PS are flash attachments disabled? They worked just fine before...

Uploaded pictures display as thumbnails til clicked so there's been no problem with those images blowing out a page but this definitely is a problem with hotlinked photos which display full size.

We had a similar issue over at Northeast Buggy. I think we've got it worked out know. If you want I can talk to Brett and find out what he's using...

Let me know.

The thumbnailing for uploads works perfectly your right.
I didn't realize(see) that only the hotlinks were giving you trouble.
Seems it occurs when images are placed inline. Maybe the BBcode CCS could fix that.
