Well she fired right up, starter handled the extra load no problem, first thing i noticed the exhaust has a sharp little crack to it when i give it throttle, another thing at idle i can't believe how quiet it runs. Got here good and warmed up, re torqued the head and exhaust manifold. Rolled here out the drive for a spin,i know i can't really stand on it till she were's it. Right away i could feel a lot more power.Drove about 10 miles at moderate speeds, using all rpm ranges from idle to about 4500. Noticed a little ping in 4th gear when i give here a lot of gas, Well let you know what i find,so far this is a different buggy. Keep you posted WILL

Second run, like i said i have a slight ping in fourth gear. Check the timing, its at 12 degrees btc, backed it off to 8. Changed the plugs, was running old torch stock things, didn't know how much oil it would burn on first start up,why foul good plugs. New plugs are ngk b7es,hotter. Check the carb was tight and the motor mounts. By the way on the head studs re torque they took about 5 more lbs at 75 lbs. The stock allen head cap screws the spec. is 75.8-83.4 ft. lbs. hot I don't believe this spec. 3 of the stock bolts were over stretched. The alloy quality of these bolts is suspect. Adjusted carb, headed back out on the road. Went about 20 miles, took cell phone with just in case, mama could tow me back. Buggy runs great,a lot more torque at lower rpm, more throttle response, grabs revs a lot faster. Need better tac with rev limiter and shift light. Got here up to about 70,got a lot more left. Feels like she will red line fourth gear easily. Very happy keep you posted. Will Oh no ping

Just another thought, like i said i can't believe how quiet this motor is at idle. Those split skirt pistons don't make near the noise the stock full skirt ones did. My next move is to try some octane booster,im running 92 premium right now. With the booster i will try and put some more timming back into the motor ,see if it will take and not ping. The velocity stacks should be here thursday. Will have to move the gas tank about 3". This will give a lot more room. Will post pictures on how i do this. The stacks should help even more on low end torque. Were building a torque monster, so far this buggy is a pleasure to drive.
Awesome Ghost! I have been waiting for a review and it sounds like you are loving it. Dude, if you can redline in fourth that is a MAJOR improvement! That thing will probably go 85mph! Ill bet it sounds more throaty as well when you press on the go pedal.

Hi roost, you would not believe how well this buggy runs 1st,2nd,3rd gear are zip, zip, zip, ive had fourth up to 5000 rpm,i know it will do redline. Let me get some more miles on her will give it a try,ive got a great place to wind her out when its time. Lost the ping running 91 octane 5 gallons and 8 oz. of Lucas racing formula booster, plus moved timming back up to 10 dbtc. Lucas as far as any body ive talked to is the best bang for the buck. Final octane at 100 to 1 mix 94.6. The motor likes this mix i can tell and its conservative, final cost 3.84 per gallon. I drive 20 to 30 miles every morning, right out of my driveway, only have to cross one paved road. As the buggy wears in it getting stronger every day. The velocity stacks are due her tuesday, that gotta help too.(Hey Vanet come to the buggy bash your gonna need 15 lbs of boost to run with me.Will square off see whats happens.) God i love talking trash Ghost.
dude, thats awesome. I love it.......the trash talk begins.....in fun of course.
Im stoked for you that it is all paying off. When you pioneer something like this you do your research and have a pretty good idea what you want and or expect to happen but you dont know for sure until you turn the key and mash the go pedal. Once again super happy for you that it has worked as well as it has.
John
P.S. Ghost, I finally posted some stuff on my mods under engine clinic mini buggy. Check it out.

Hi, well after installing velocity stacks and Uni Filters, fired here up,first thing i noticed the idle went from 750 to 1000 rpm. Adjusted back to 750,went for a ride. Before i had a little flat spot right of idle, gone. Plus when id rev her up in lower gears and let it back down there were some small backfires gone. Been lucky everone of these mods. has helped. Starting to stand on her harder now, this buggy really scoots, have to shift a lot more because it goes through the gears a lot faster. In first and second gear on dirt i can break the tires loose about anytime i want to. I also have to watch how much gas i give it coming out of a curve, she goes sideways in a heartbeat. Im running 25" hole shots they hook up pretty good, down the road i think 27" Maxis would be the way to go. Also in the future better shocks,Always looking for a deal. Ghost
Hey ghost, man with 27's and all that power, your buggy would be unstopable! Did you ever check back with wiseco to see what the price of the pistons would be now? Thanks
