I have read many of the posts regarding the steering on the 650 sand spider, and I agree for the most part. The steering is very easy, no problem one handing it, but there are two things that bug me. First, it seems the turning radius should be smaller. Perhaps it's the locked rear, or the lack of power to break it loose and swing it around, either way it seems like I'm doing too many multiple-point turn arounds. Second, there have been multiple occasions where I found myself with the wheels cranked, but all they were doing was plowing up the desert in a staight line! More than once I've missed a turn, hit a bush, and scared the passenger silly.
Am I alone? Is it just driver error? I read a post about checking the toe in, and I'll do that, but any other suggestions? It seems the front is too light, maybe relocate the battery and tool bag to the front?

When running in open spaces, I use the Joyner wheel spacers on the front to widen the track. It allows the wheels to bite in better and give you less push.

Have you thought about it being the frontend is light and you are just pushing the front tires? I was having the same problem with my Roketa. I ended up putting a full sized car battery in the front passenger side and this seamed to help. The only problem is when going through deep water you have to make sure the battery stays above water. I have it in a battery box but not one that can go under water.just a thought and wont cost much

I was considering relocating the battery toward the front, as well as get/fab a rack in front like the newer models come with for the tools and cooler. It may help some, but I don't if it will overcome the locked diff affect. If it does nothing else, it will at least lighten up the back end and give the rear suspension a little more travel. Thanks for all the input.
