Does anyone know the part # for a K&N air filter or cold air intake that will fit on a Roketa GK25 800 cc

I'd go with a UNI since it doesnt require the sock like the K&N and is more for offroad. The K&N is a great road filter but not so good for offroad. UNI has a great webpage with measurements etc. of their filters.

http://www.knfilters.com/search/product ... od=RA-063V

other part numbers are: RA-062V (V=chrome top), RA-0620/RA-0630 (rubber tops). RA-066V, 067V, 0660,0670 (offset flange)
and custom assemblies 60-1070, 1080, 60-1030, 1040.
I'm not sure if the 9" units will clear the number 1 plug wire on the distributor, so I went with the 60-1040. The RA units are around $20.00 cheaper.

As noted, in dusty enviroments, a filter wrap/prefilter is a good idea. K&N makes pre filters or you can also use a Uni filter wrap for the K&N.

Some have used the APC? cold air induction units avalable at Pep Boys. They sell all the bits you will need to rig it up. I believe Areblder did this. You can PM him for more info.

Mick,
Did you notice an increase in power with the K&N 60-1040?
Thanks,
Chris

hi Chris,

Firstly, the stock set up on mine was like a car air cleaner with a phenolic type filter, so no matter what I did it was better off.
Just a note, you will need to get a longer center stud (6mm) to install the 60-1040. Other K&N models will just clamp on around the carb neck. My gas tank had to be tilted out of the way for the install, as there is only about 1/2" of clearance under it when your done.

I also moved my timing when I installed the K&N so yeah, I got better performance, I'm just not sure how much can be attributed to just the air filter. The modified exhaust system helped out as well, so I think the most noticable bang for the buck, was the combination of air filter, exhaust mod, and timing change. Jetting came latter.

Either way, a change to a K&N or Uni filter is going to be an improvement from the restrictive stock set up.

Good luck with it,
Mick

Thanks Mick,
What exhaust did you use? Have you heard about using an ignition control system to improve performance? I see you are in CA. I just got my buggy and am going to get the green sticker soon. Do you have any suggestions or things I need to do?
Thanks for your help,
Chris

Hi Chris,

What 800 do you have? Roketa?SunL etc?

Anyway, buried in the following thread is the exhaust information and some info on the green sticker.

http://www.buggynews.com/topic3720.html?highlight=

I'm not sure if this was what you were asking regarding changes etc, but as far as other mods, there is plenty of info on here. This is most of what I have done so far:

http://www.buggynews.com/topic7192.html

http://www.buggynews.com/topic7916.html

http://www.buggynews.com/topic7946.html

I'm still using the stock ignition, but I would think an MSD unit or some other type of add on would be beneficial.

As far as other info, you may find this helpful as well:

Just my opinion FWIW.

Anyway, congrats on your purchase and I hope you will enjoy it.
All the best...mick

Mick, is your buggy a Roketa 800? Were you able to get the CA green sticker?

It is a MotoUS, but it is the same engine set up, and basically the same kart with a few differences. I got the green sticker before the whole '07 EPA/CARB rule change mess. It is a 2005 model year and, at the time, DMV simply looked for a Vin# digit to determine red or green sticker. This post pretty much explains the process:

http://www.buggynews.com/topic3790.html

However, you can check with DMV for any updates:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/offhighway.htm

It would not be a bad idea to print out the relative information and have it with you when you go to the DMV office. It is possible that not all DMV employees know the rules and each office handles them differently. You may have to "educate" them as to what the requirements are and hopefully, they will be receptive to your kind offer to provide them their own information. Attitude and patience is everything when dealing with "un-civil servants" lol. If you encounter problems at one office, try going to another, neighboring office. You may have better luck there.

Mine was classified as a dune buggy, as should yours be. I was fortunate to have "civil" civil sevants at my local office. Both helpful and friendly.

If you bought this new in California...the dealer should take care of this for you.
