Yes kids can keep you young but at the same time can drive you crazy by making a super mess of the house. No offence to you but I forbid any of my kids to be on on quads or 4 wheelers even small ones.At least I can seatbelt them in buggy with a low center of gravity and a roll cage.Quads are an accident waiting to happen. We have the highest death and injury tolls than any other state on quads.Sorry for the way I feel about quads...........pud it's a what and goes where? My buggy don't have one-seems pghruby won't talk to us and tell us himself ?????????. mancoman
I understand where your coming from and respect your opinion but I also wouldnt put my daughter in harms immediate way, I also know I cant avoid everything. Yes she could get hurt, but she is governed as well as watched with an immediate kill switch remote, and she wears all protective gear including chest, neck and back with helmet , gloves , boots, goggles. Her terraine is also limited and no climbing, jumping or goofing off or she knows she is done for a looooonnngg time.. Buggys can be dangerous too tho, rollovers, water, tree limbs coming thro. I've experienced both sides and actually rolled my odyssey in a creek when I was younger, thank god I didnt panic and someone was nearby or I could have easily drowned in 4 inches of water. But I dont want anyone to think I just let her takeoff and do what she wants, she has been driving it since she was 3 with me on the back and just this year as she is nearing 6 we decided to let her ride in the yard supervised or beside me on trails with the remote kill mounted on my console(her trails have been graded flat with a tractor but lets her think she is out riding in the woods). I have lost several friends of my own to quads as well, and Im originally from South eastern Ohio, about 45 min from Parkersburg so I know the riding around you. No comparison down here..........FLAT........no hill climbing, trails are easy riding unless your trying to drift thro everything.
Again I respect your opinion Manco, and hopefully you dont take offense to this, atleast your not like alot of parents that just let the kids go and 90% of them are the ones you hear about getting killed.
And i have to adjust down south, when I say "Quad" no one knows what I'm talking about so then its 4 -wheeler.

mancoman sorry to hear about your friend but you can't blame the four wheeler, anything on wheels can hurt you or even worse. long long time ago me and my buddy about got it on dirt bikes with a train we found away to get from were we lived into town 8 miles away.we done that for a long time and thought we knew the train schedule.wrong we were clicking up the tracks and ran onto a train heading for us.just had enough time to jump off and throw them over the side of the tracks, yes i said throwed we were scared.they went down over a long rocky embankment,we had a h^ll of a time getting them back up out of there with all that loose rocks.long story shorter we didn't do that anymore.its just not worth it.
got older worked in a coal yard were trains were in and out everyday.depending on grade, how fast they are running and how many cars they have loaded or empty.a 150 car loaded unit train with 2 engines in front and 2 in the back takes miles to get stop once they start applying the brakes. from 5 miles on up. another long story shorter don't mess with a train you won't never win.
again sorry to hear about your friend.

Its all in how you raise the child and respect the quad.(I'm from the south) Most folks that get hurt riding are doing something wrong. Myself included. I was riding dirt bikes back then and only had trouble when I caused it. It's the same with the buggy. Any time you here us talking about rolling one, we did something we should'nt have. Even if you just pick the wrong line which I've done. I think It's good to start them off young so once they get to that dare devil stage they have experiance and respect for the sport.

Young men it is none of my business to tell you how to raise your kids or what type of gas powered motor vehicle they ride or drive.I had a post on this matter a long time ago here at bn and I got a steal on a high speed large buggy because the kid was to young and dumb at the time to run it.It would smoke ChuckO and me both.It was made in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.Any body know where this is? mancoman

Pud had the inside scoop on the EGR cooler. It is a heat exchanger to cool exhaust gasses that run through the engine a second time to reduce NOx.
I was fortunate enough to catch this under warranty since it required over $1000 in parts and over 12 hrs of shop time. Although I found the problem Friday night, the diesel tech did not start on it until Monday.
The truck was not ready until Wednesday morning, so I had to scramble to load, fuel and hitch up resulting in 4 hour delay from planned departure. Our first night, we made it Eureka, CA. The second night, we are 75 miles north of Los Angeles.
This problem has been determined to be caused by casting debris from the block resulting in clogged oil and EGR coolers.
