I guess I should read more than the posts that I have posted a reply to. That is my bad. Sue,I feel your pain, and I am saddened greatly by your loss, especially the for the way it happened.
I am glad that BN will survive, and I do feel regret for the last Buggybash, and I am still wondering what happened to the plaque that was supposed to be signed by all who attended!
My buggy broke down after the group photo, but I stayed till sunday morning, and NO-ONE came by or even metioned anything about a memorial, the plaque,or even Steve. Now bear in mind I am just a small fish in the pond..... but I still swim here!So if we have a new admin/owner I hope that who ever it iswill keep Steve's spirit alive!
I also hope I will not be banished for the words that I have not posted, but have fought greatly to keep to myself! Sue I hope you continue to keep in touch and keep us informed(even though it is none of our business) on how you and the kids are doing.Again I would wish to express my condolences to you and your family, for a burden that was not yours to bear.

Wetsu,

Thank you for your honesty. Yes, it deeply bothers me that Steve was "forgoten" so easily by the community that supposedly "loved" him so much. He worked so hard on creating BuggyNews and devoted so much time, now he is but a figment of the imagination by so many here.

Steve "misjudjed" the "loyalty" of some of his closest fellow members, unfortunately.

Did I profit from the sale of Buggynews? No. It all went to probate to settle Steve's debt. If I hadn't sold Buggynews, I would have had to shut it down. Legally, I couldn't keep it open, it was Steve's "business".

I didn't want to disapoint all the members, so ofcourse I was happy that someone offered to buy it and Buggy news was saved and it helped to settle the probate. Probate would've settled without the selling as well though. I just would have had to close the site down. (Which I didn't WANT to do).

Seems like Steve and I are a "taboo" here so I will take my leave. Thank you to the "true" friends of Steve. He was the Founder and Creater of this site. The members should never forget that.

I wish the new owner well and thank them for saving the site.

Sue, I am sure the new owner bought the sight to keep Steves memory alive, this sight meens so much to so many people and if it wasnt for Steve we all would be out in the dark.

As long as this sight is up then Steve will not be forgotten.

Sue,

There are a few things that I wanted to keep private, but I feel like I need to let people know...

Steve was not forgotten and never will be.

You don't hear about the prayers that were said, nor about the candles that were lit, nor about the Mass that was offered in his name, nor about the donations that were given to URI, nor about the toasts that were given over a few beers around a campfire at the '08 National Bash.

You don't hear about these things because they were/are private, solemn moments in BuggyNews member's lifes.

We love what Steve created and we thank God for giving us the time we got with him. We thank you for giving Steve the time to spend on this.

Steve and what he has done and the legacy he has left will never be a taboo subject around here. He's honored. We just do it in our own, sometimes quite and private, ways.

I'm glad you're still around the site. Keep coming back, you'll continue to see this site grow. Here's how I know.

The Northeast Buggy Association was created to more easily find BuggyNews people in my region, the Northeast. We started out as 5 or 6 people. We now have just under 50 and we continue to grow. All of those people are here on BuggyNews as well.

If you join one you join the other. Steve did that for us... That's what he and I were talking about the last time we spoke. His first legacy is his family. His second legacy is BuggyNews.

The people here on BuggyNews are some of the best people in America. We come from all kinds of backgrounds, but we have one common traight. We all belive in helping each other out.

That was Steve's idea. He started it and it continues to this day. We honor Steve, by helping each other out. And that outpouring of support is done with no strings attached. Just a thank you, a tip of the hat, a you're welcome and off we ride into the sunset. Each of us on a buggy of course.

Sue,
I feel Steve's presence on every page of BuggyNews. Nobody can fill his shoes. This is especially true when it comes time to organize a Bash. Steve was not forgotten at the 08 Bash, as Chris has so eloquently pointed out. The problem has been one of "connecting the dots" from idea to execution. We'll try to do better in the future.

BN is way more than a discussion forum. It's truly a community and is unmatched by any other forum I have ever encountered. That is the basis for the loyalty found here and is the reason BN will continue to grow.

Mark

Sue,
I have 1 more favor to ask of you Please. Can you or will you or is it even possible to have a picture of Steve permanently put on the Buggy news home page? In fact do you have one of the whole Hopkins family? To serve as reminder of what you all mean to us.

Chris, well said!

Mark, in my opinion there is no other buggy site worth looking at. Since I first found Buggy news,I have had no desire to look else where. I get all the info I need, and I have met quite a few good people here. Thanks to Steve first and formost.

Thanks again Sue for sharing Steve with us! He will be missed.
