Desert riding season is just about upon us again. the weather is getting cooler, California's red sticker season starts next month and hundreds of thousand of us will be going out every weekend for the next 6 months to the deserts of California, Arizona and Nevada for some offroad fun with our friends and families. I just want to encourage everyone to keep a few things in mind as our riding season starts.

Once the beer bottles open, the keys get put away! You're not just a danger to yourself when you ride intoxicated, you're a danger to all those around you. Wanna do a night ride? save the drinking for AFTERWARD!

Wear your seatbelts, wear helmets and all protective gear. Don't ride alone, don't ride at night without adequate lights. We like having you around and so does your family. Untold numbers of people are killed or severely injured every year simply because they or some other idiot do not wear safety gear and adhere to safe driving practices. Please don't be one.

TREAD LIGHTLY!!!! I don't have to tell you how hard it is to keep our riding areas open. The Sierra Club sends people out to the popular spots with video and camera just LOOKING for offroaders behaving badly. Respect nature, don't be an rear end. You DO want to eventually take your grandchildren to that favorite riding spot, don't you? And for God's sake, pack it in, pack it out! Don't trash our deserts.

PLEASE be careful on the highways. Every year we see motorhomes burning and trailers flipped on the highways en route to our Southern Deserts. But most of all, RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!! And put a smile on a kid's face.

I AGREE!

Most of all... PACK IT OUT! I'm sick of the beer cans/bottles everywhere. We even take more trash out than we take in. We have to have somewhere to ride, Don't give anyone an excuse to close your favorite area.
Nobody likes to see BLM / Private Property signs everywhere.

Also, put flags on your vehicle. When 800 pounds of buggy come over a hill and lands on some kid on a quad, it won't be pretty! http://quadflags.com

Yes, PLEASE be safe!

Over Labor Day weekend two people died and several more were seriously injured in separate accidents in the Oregon dunes.

One was a quad vs sandrail accident (guess who won?), and the other was a quad riding at night that went over a false peak on a dune and flipped, killing the driver and hurting the passenger pretty bad.

In both cases, the quad riders had passengers! [-X In one case, the passenger died.

Please be safe, use your flags, and use the brightest lights your buggy can handle at night!

-Mike

well i'm clean on the other side of the country and really know nothing about your guys riding but from what i have seen on the tv episodes on i think its called true tv where they patrol the beachs lakes and riding places out that way.
watched one episode of place where they were riding. man i never seen so many atvs, dirt bikes and buggies in one place.it all looked like it would be fun as heck.i saw enough to know flags would have to be a must. there was some people got hurt when i watched and can see how.

the garbage thing has hurt things around here anymore.more and more people are posting there properties, that and don't want accidents on them.

good luck guys have fun it sure looks like it would be.
