Just recieved my fast freddies carb kit for the 650 ss. To start missin a vent filter, and maybe the valve cover filter. Also the hedder is not the same as the ones i have seen, it is the stock hedder going into a 2inch pipe all the way to the stock muffler(will post pics later on). I don't think this is as good as dual head pipes to the muffler, but not sure, what is everyones opinion and what has worked best? Will install the kit when head studs arrive tomorrow, also did minor port work. Will keep updated, Thanks.

Hi Bigt , get those piuctures up here, ill tell you a little bit about wave length and scavening,no on a 650 its not going to make a lot of difference. Ghost
Finally got the kit installed today, still have to move gas tank back, and freddies hedder is 3inches higher than the mount for the muffler. Only got to run it for a couple of minutes, but i can tell it has made a huge difference, reving ALOT faster, responding so much faster, granted my stock carb had problems with accelerator pump but stil big difference. Will post pictures tomorrow.
Finally got hedder mounted right, leaks at muffler though, also moved gas tank back. Took it for a short drive down the road, ALOT faster, pulls through the gears and hits 55 easy, it was still pickin up speed but i ran out of road, great improvement. Still running rich, think i may have to go down in jet size. All you guys with weber's I'm terrible at tuning, what has worked best for everyone? Do I need to close the air by passes? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Heres some pics of the carb and the hedder that comes with the kit now, mine is wrapped with graphite black thermo-tec wrap from auto zone(50$), also K&N Oil Filter #HP-1008 (14$). Would like to thank everyone that has put up with me and helped with the project, thanks guys.

Hi Bigt, blew up your pictures looks great, have you adjusted idle mixture screws yet, carefully turn them in or out till you get the highest idle you can. Start checking your plugs you want a niece light brown color ,i would run it at least 10 miles before reading. Explain what you mean by air bypass jets. If your plug reading are black, call nick tell him what its doing, he will send you new jets, its part of the deal. Your exhaust looks fine, looks like you could put another clamp on the muffler, run one clamp up and one down. Another trick is go to the woodburning stove store, get what is called retart cement, you can put it on that joint, it gets really hard gray color and will take 2000 degrees. Ive done this on exhaust stuff works great. Ghost
I adjusted the mixture screws a little, but when i rev it sometimes it puts out black smoke, i don't have a tack so just doing what i can. Oops i meant the air by-pass screws, someone on here said they closed them, not sure though. The hedder doesn't go into the muffler far enough so tomorrow will add some pipe to it. Thanks again.

Hi Bigt, still not sure what screws your talking about, in your picture looking at top of carb which screws are they. Also make sure your choke is all the way open. You can buy a tach for as little as 50.00,it would help Ghost
Just behind the top mounting nuts, but I'm betting you haven't adjusted yours. Got it up to 60mph today, still rich, will readjust valves tomorrow,I am getting a hiccup when it gets to operating temp. Thanks

Hi Big t,talked to Nick at Fast Freddy's about air bypass screws,he says they have little effect on performance unless your running a high lift radical cam. High lift cams have a tendency to load up at idle speeds, the air screws let in a little more air to help out with this problem. He also said set them at 2-21/4 turns out. Ill try this next time i have the buggy out and see if i get any more rpm at idle and let you know.Ghost
