Hi all,
Well my brother was driving my hammerhead twister 150 down the road with my daughter and he said it suddently reved like it was in netural. He thought the chain broke...
I pulled hooked up and pulled him back to the house and there was a bit of a wiring sound then a large snap.. we pulled to the side but could not see anything.. I then pulled more and no more sounds..
I havent looked at it yet since its at my parents summer house and we just got home.. any ideas on what I should look for? is there anyone with a picture page of a tranny break-down?.. I hope I didnt break anything by pulling the buggy...
It's very common and not a big thing to worry about.
If it is a broken belt, make sure you get all the little pieces out of the CVT case and any remaining threads unwound from the pulleys.
Get all the chunks and dust out of there. Remove the variator and clutch and blow out the whole case with compressed air. Wipe down the pulleys on the variator and clutch.
Make sure the rollers (or sliders) are seated in the correct position and the little ramp plate guides are not damaged. Carefully replace the whole variator assembly and center pin.
When putting the new belt on, put the belt over the clutch pulley side, then over the center pin of the variator. Put the variator fan plate on so that it goes over the spindle and hand tighten the nut. Spin it a small amount with the impact wrench (or whatever you're tightening it with), then manually rotate the whole belt about a 1/2 turn. Tighten a bit more, rotate the belt.
Repeat until the nut is fully tightened. Replace the CVT cover and exhaust and you're back in business!

Hi Guys,
I finally had time to pull it apart.. looks like the belt is shreded and I am cleaning it all out now..
I do have a question "Make sure the rollers (or sliders) are seated in the correct position and the little ramp plate guides are not damaged. Carefully replace the whole variator assembly and center pin."
What is the correct position? they apear to be kind of floating around in there.. I took a picture but not sure if you can tell if they are correct or not.. Is there thread that explains how this should be?
If that little black thing is in fact a roller, it looks side ways to me. You need to take the vari off. Just slid the back off it and set the rollers in it. If te vari is flat on the ground with the rollers facing you, the holes will be sideways when in correct. I think Mike at BPNW has a how to on it. Just go to his page

yep i agree with chucko in your picture you could see that the roller or rollers are turn side ways.if you belt was on now it would be in high gear, your variator is closed you will have to take the nut off any way and the fan side of vatiator so you can get the belt on. then you can pull the rest off and inspect the rollers and put them back.be careful and don't lose the 3 little guides or forget to put them back on.
