Here we go......... I went and got some of the material for the build yesterday. Going tomorrow to pick up a Bender that sells at Princess Auto similar to the 12 ton bender that sells at Harbour Freight. Just a warning that this build will more than likely take a long time to complete as funds become available. I sold one of my radio controlled airplanes to get the material and bender. Anyone want to buy another RC airplane ????LOL
So let the fun begin

good luck on the build, I too just started my own buggy build, however I am going it alone, no plans to go off of so to speak, just a model I built a few years ago. I too have to do the build as funds come available however I am hoping that it will take me only a few months rather then years, but who knows with this economy, welcome to the forum

We had a long day yesterday. The drive to pick up the bender was a bit longer than I thought. Left at 8:30 am and got home at 2 pm. The bender was new in the box but I got it for $130 and it retails here for $199. Figured in the gas used and lunch and I still saved $60 over store price. And it was a nice day for a drive in the country I am kinda dissappointed with the bender though. I cannot get it to bend a nice 90. Tried everything I could think of and still no go. Does bends up to 30 degrees nice though. The 90 degree bends you see in the pictures were done with an Ideal hand bender After cutting the grass and a few other odd chores I decided to start in on the build. I have the bottom frame done, rollbar hoop bent, beltline frame started, and some other pieces cut and ready for fitting. I knew it was time to quit for the night when I was fitting the rollbar hoop to the frame. I was standing over top of the hoop holding it with a hand on each upright. When I was satisfied with the fit I said to myself that looks good and for whatever reason I lifted the hoop while still looking over the top of it focusing on the attachment points ramming the top of the hoop into the bridge of my nose. After my eyes stopped watering I looked at the clock which said around 9:45 pm and then decided it was time to quit for the night.

More updates from the last couple of days. I get out working in the garage on this and it's hard to stop. I'm having too much fun building this. The best thing I've done so far was to buy an auto darkening welding helmet. Princess Auto had them on sale for $69 solar powered with a backup battery. Makes starting the welds alot easier.

Man, your moving right along! I bought a bender today, I didn't take it out the box..yet, and this is making even tougher to keep it in the box. Are you searching for a motor..found one?
