Hey Everyone,
Not exactly a buggy question, but more of a live axle question. I have a quad that had two broken engine mount bolts on the chain side. I removed and replaced the bolts. I also did my best to re-center the engine in the frame, which had shifted a little. Now when I roll the quad around the chain goes through revolutions of loose fitting and tight. The sprocket on the engine looked OK. Could it be the axle? Has anyone else experienced this with their live axle drive.

Hi Everyone,
Quick update everyone. It was an alignment issue. I lined-up the two sprockets using a Square edge and the chain works great now.
However, now I have a dark gray primordial substance oozing from the top engine mounting bracket. As soon as the engine heats up the black gunk starts oozing out all over the back of theengine. At first I thought it might be the rubber isolator bushing melting, but now I think there might be more to it. I wonder if engine oil is mixing with something else. Anybody ever have a similar problem with their Honda-clone motor?

do you have any pictures this is a 150cc its it. if so could it be coming from the timing chain tensioner, like maybe a gasket leaking letting oil come up by the engine mounting tabs on the block. gray looking oil to me is a sign of moisture in the oil, sort makes it look foamed up and gray looking.
my sprockets were out of alignment when i got my buggy. its been a while now but i the think they were out 3/16's of a inch. didn't really notice it at low speeds but get to moving pretty fast and my back end was loping, like a tire out of round.chain was trying to ride up on teeth on sprocket at bottom as chain came around.it wasn't making any popping sound or anything like that. made a spacer to add to spacer on gearbox and some thin washers on sprocket. got them lined up and problem went away.

Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to thank all of you for letting me hijack this forum with my ATV question. I am still waiting on my buggy. The truck carrying it is currently in Eugene Oregon and I reside in Washington State, so hopefully it won’t be too much longer.
Anyhow, I should really take pictures of the problem I am having with my 70cc motor. It is real ugly. I have owned the ATV for over 4 years and this is a very recent problem. It just started about two weeks ago. Also, the oil in the quad is new, I just changed it a few weeks ago. It is still very clean. I was just researching this problem on the web. I am wondering if the rubber isolator used in the engine mount is liquid filled. If this isolator bushing was somehow compromised it could explain the black ooze once the engine heats up. I will remove the engine mount bracket this weekend and check the bushing.

Actually, I live in Newcastle, which is a suburb of Seattle, very close to Bellevue. On a totally different note, I just checked the shipping tracker and it is still showing Eugene as the destination. Drat, I was hoping they would make some more progress today.
To be honest, I have been a little disappointed with the order fulfillment. I purchased the buggy from MXMotorSports on October 10th, but they didn’t even ship until Friday the 16th. Not really sure why the hold-up? I called MXMotorSports before I made the purchase to make sure the buggy was in stock. Anyone have experience with MXMotorSports? I have been purchasing Chinese made ATV’s and Dirt Bikes from the net for several years, so I have no illusions about post purchase support or fictitious warranties. I am just crossing my fingers and hoping I get a good one. It can go either way with these things, and when you get a lemon, it is nothing but a huge headache. Wish me luck.
