i finally got all the correct parts and everything back together.
buggy runs much improved, maybe for xmas i will get an updated variator and clutch..
but still no brakes...
I bled them per the instructions on the board and they went from 0 braking to 40%.
I went and bought the vacuum pump for the brake lines, pep boys had one for 32$.
the front brakes have air no matter what i do.
I guess i cand try and do a compression test on the entire system.
The rear brake line seems to be ok.
any other tips would be great.

If you have not "bench bled" the master cylinder you might try that. Brakes will stay spongy if your master cylinder has a vapor lock or bleeding seal. HAHA! What do you do with a bleeding seal? Take it to an animal hospital, of course!! Sorry... That was pitiful but I couldn't resist...

Mechanic says, "Sir you blew a seal." Customer Replies, "Hey! I don't talk about your private life..."

I got more brake now than I had at the bash. This is why I would wait till the guy in front had cleared the hill before I would go down. I lock the ebrake and go I got the ebrake set to let me crawl down with it locked. My bleader broke so I aint done. I hope to be good before the ride
i think i will do a reverse pressurization and see what "bubbles"
One thing is how far should the piston go in?
And for the seal, i would just club it again

Dang! That's a killer... You've about tried everything and still nuttin'. Too bad you didn't have another close by to test a different master cylinder. Sure sounds like that or vapor in a caliper or two... Hope you get it figured. I would be interested in what it turns out to be. Mysteries are meant to be solved. Scooby Dooo... Where are you!!

I tell you what I did to get the brakes working on two of our buggies.
Take the brake line off the wheel cylinder. Put the brake line in a cup half full of brake fluid, make sure it is submerged in the fluid. Have someone help pump the brakes slow. I cannot stress this enough. Like you were sinking in mud slow.
We worked on ours for two days before we did this and now we have brakes. We even used one of those vacuum pumps that just made a mess.
We were just pumping the heck out of them. Once we ran across the slow pump it worked great. A bubble or two for each pump till it would squirt the fluid across the basement. After you get the line full pour some brake fluid into the caliper with the bleeder valve open. Then bleed the caliper.
Maybe that will work. We were just pumping them like mad and it was just making the bubbles move back wards and forward.
