Well I would'nt say that. My slide carb is instant responce at any speed. INSTANT... I have a large port head that matchs the carb as wll. Mike ran his with out a port and found a bit a slag from interferance of flow. A port job fixed this.
I dont think he did a real port job though. He may have. I think he simply took a dremeel and opened it up some to match the intake.
If a dealer would come out with a tappered intake that might fix this issue

Ok, after reading (and reading and reading) it stikes me that the pumper carb would be more responsive - I assume it would also require 12v to be fed to the carb to run the pump? And if I do ho with the larger size, how detrimental is it not to port the intake?
The pump on the 30 and 32mm refers to a small arm that hits a small pump that gives an extra shot of fuel to help eliminate the dead spot on most carbs. its a mechanical arm set up

This is kinda true - I port *matched* the larger diameter intake and the cylinder head, which allowed for excellent flow, but I also enlarged inside somewhat. Polished the exhaust side a bit, as well.

HINT HINT
Well, that kinda defeats the purpose of having a larger intake and carb!

Yep - no extra electrical current needed. The mere action of pressing the throttle pedal automatically activates the pump!
