st joes is 27 hours from my house according to google maps this is with out towing towing id factor in another 7 hours or so so i am looking about about 34-35 hours of driving

St. Joes is 1810 Miles from Muuieta, CA and is listed as 26 hours, 18 minutes. Based on my experience you should be able to do this trip (including fuel stops) in 29 hours. With two young studs driving you should be able to do it in 2+ days each way.

Day One:8am-9pm.
Day Two:8am-9pm..
Day Three: Arrive before noon. Unpack and Ride some..
Day Four: Ride
Day Five: Ride
Day Six: Pack-Up and Drive
Day Seven: 8am-9pm
Day Eight: 8am-9pm

Budget 10 days... Stay an extra day if you can...

That's not a bad trip and is very similar to what I would do from Connecticut....

For those of us with long drives this should lay it out...

You're overly optimistic about the drive. Not only are these guys inexperienced drivers, but they must cross the Rockies. 3.5 days each way is a much more realistic (and safe) estimate if they are on the road for 10 hours each day.

Our drive to St. Joe State Park was 2300 miles. We left the previous Saturday to arrive Thursday morning. We drove two full days before taking a down day in the Black Hills. We then had two more days of full driving to get to St. Louis so that we could get camp early the next day.

Geek,as a professional driver ,if you can make it to Denver I will fly there and meet you and drive you to Kansas city (10 hrs),to pick up my buggy and head out from here.
As far as when, I have 3 weeks of vacation, and 14 get out of work free days.My kids are grown and my wife hates my buggyin....so when for me is anytime. I might warn you all that it gets muggier/hotter here in the midwest. June is tolerable,August is not much fun in the trees. October is ideal but kids are in school,Feb. forget it,it's plain cold. So March ,April, or June? Now bear in mind there are lakes to swim in should the heat become a factor. And I will (if nessesary) bring and industrial fan if the wind forgets to blow :D .
