Buggy Bash 2009 sucked rear end. We currently live in Missouri (not by choice though, uncle sam sent us here) We missed BB '08 'cuz we were in transition from GA. We were all amped up to go this year and have been looking forward to it for a while. We ride our 4-wheelers and buggy all over Missouri, and occasionally at St. Joe SP. We got to SJSP on the Saturday of BB '09, and had to laugh. The first thing we thought was "where are all the buggies?" We stopped a couple of buggy guys to ask them if they knew anything about the "bash" and they said that they were just as confused as we were. We also talked to another guy that said he didn't even know there was a "bash" and that he was just out riding for fun. Anyone we tried to strike up conversation with just blew us off, and if we pulled up next to someone to make conversation they just drove off before we could speak to them. We felt like this whole "buggy bash" was a joke. It seemed like it was a bunch of riders that knew each other prior to this 'so called' event, and they just got together to ride, and didn't want any outsiders coming into their circle. We were not welcomed, and we will make it a point to let everyone know the comraderie that was given to fellow riders. Buggies are for tearin' up dirt, and throwin' sand, not for snubbing people that you don't know. And I think it's funny that all the people that were snubbing us, had 150cc buggies and fecal matter...not the 800cc or 1000cc that would maybe give them cause for snubbing someone. We will continue riding SJSP, however, will not try to become a part of Buggy Bash...hopefully next year these guys will take their BASH somewhere else. We've been to events in GA where the owner of Blade Powersports was there, and he himself was nicer to us than anyone at BB '09. We had a good time on our own though, and thankfully we were camping at St. Francois SP, so after riding we could go and do our own thing.

I am sorry you were treated that way. There were some buggys their that didnt know about the bash. I do not recall anyone asking me about the bash or the buggys, I did meet a gentlemen with an joyner 250 that was from MO. I did introduce myself and invited him and his family over for the cook out.
Things did not go as planned due to break downs ( which is to be expected ) and the late nights and all the fun. This is a work in progress so hoping each year will get better.
We did post on some of the other buggybash threads about the cook outs, I do appoligize for not getting around to everyone. I have been to all of the events in ga along with Stu and have met alot of great people.

Best 1st post, ever. Most of the buggy riders I know want to meet other buggy riders so they can get tips, find new riding areas and have new riding buddies. Maybe you were just at the wrong place at the wrong time to meet the really nice people on this forum.

No apologies necessary, and no excuses necessary. I will just know better in the future. I had a blast regardless of whether I was with my family, or with other buggy enthusiasts. And as far as being at the wrong place at the wrong time...I was at Buggy Bash 2009...what other time and place is there to meet New riding buddies, and find New riding places, and converse with other buggy riders about their buggies and hear their stories?
Wow snake_lady0124 - I didnt get to go this year and really hate to hear how your trip turned out. I will not try to make excuses for anyone's attitude, for as I stated, I wasn't there. But from the first one I attended to last years bash I can say that I never received any negative response from anyone. Thats why I continued on this site, after the first buggy bash, everyone was so helpful that I wanted to give back to this site. Again I personally am sorry you had a bad time at the event - but mind you this - Don't let one bad time ruin you passion for the sport.

I traveled 2200 miles each way to the bash and made it a point visit the other buggy guys. I missed spending time with JohnyPhaser and SockMan, but think I spoke with everyone else. This was the first time meeting these other enthusiasts and I received a warm welcome.
Is it possible you were in the day use staging area and never met the group? I was in site 115 and would travel through the other campsites to introduce myself... I know neither I or my wife met you otherwise you would have writing about the hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and salmon!
