Good Evening all, 2005 GK-13 w/ a cf 250 engine

I am finally nearing the end of this build and hope to be riding soon.
I have yet two issues that are holding things up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First : I looked at the drive belt and clutched and though well, it looks similar to a snowmobile, this should be no problem. I was wrong. Can anyone direct me on how to install the drive belt, without taking things apart ?
I have consulted the manual and it is not very clear on the proceedure for replacing the belt.

The second issue is accelleration of the engine, no load on the engine. Based on its no load performance I think that it will have accelleration issues under load. I have narrowed it down to the carburetor I think.
It will idle fine and accell fairly smooth up to about 1/3 throttle then after that is breaks up and if you feather the throttle it will pick up slowly. If you whack the throttle, it is broken up throughout the range and will sometimes shut off. I am fairly sure the fuel pump section has issues. Are there any other common issues that I should look at before I put a new fuel pump in it.

Thanks again,

Dennis

on the cn and cf moto 250 you have to remove the cvt cover, remove the fan from the variator, and install the belt on the clutch pulley, no further down in the pulley than 1/8 inch or so. install the other end of the belt on the boss ( pin ) on the variator, install the fan and tighten the nut really good.

check the pilot jet to make sure its really clean, check the wires going into the cdi plug

Thank you all for your replies,

Can anyone tell me what the dimensions of the drive belt should be?

I have tried the exact proceedure that you listed and cannot get the fan section back on with the belt in place. I am suspecting that I may have the wrong belt. It is a Bando 828 22.5 30. Those are the numbers listed on the belt.

I will recheck the pilot jet. Isnt the pilot jet used for idle and light throttle ?

Thanks again,

D

I dont know about the numbers but the clutch pulley(the one in the back)got to be squeezed by hand and push the belt down in there. This way the belt will be long enough.See if that helps.

This procedure works very well and if followed, you can do it by yourself.

One other point. When you get the belt on and everything tightened up, with the cover off, bump the engine a few times and make sure that the belt "seats" correctly on both pulleys. I've seen them "stick" on the clutch side.

Thanks again,

remove the back kalf of the variator, check the roller position, replace slide plate and make sure the plastic slides are in correctly, hold it with the right hand, slide it over the crank shaft, remove all fingers but one, slide it back until the case touches your last finger, gently remove the last finger and push back at the same time until the variator seats.

do not push the big pin inward, install the belt 828x22.5x30, put the fan section on as much as you can being sure to line up the splines, take a ractchet and tighten the nut until its seats the fan half, then as TH said bump the engine over until the belt seats then tighten the nut with a impact

tHANKS AGAIN ALL,

I have clened and resized the pilot jet. The engine performance is ok now.

Just the drive belt. I was unable to squeeze the seconday clutch by hand. The only way I was able to squeeze it was of the car, with a compressor tool that I threw together. Should the be able to be done on the cart ?

Thanks,

D
