Here's the problem the buggy is 4 hours away from me. It won't roll forward or backwards. When it was last rode the engine started bogging down like it was going to cut out when it got to half throttle? Any idea's on what it could be. My 14 year old is just dying to tear into the engine to see what's going on with it. I'm home and he's with the buggy..

I know it sounds silly but is the rear brake froze up or possibly over tightened. The very same thing happened to one of our GX150 Yerfdogs while in the Memorial Day parade last year.

I would think it would roll if the engine was seized because the CVT belt would just slide over the driver clutch. Maybe the belt is somehow caught up in the CVT or maybe something is binding in the CVT housing
Quit possibly the driven clutch is locked in the drive position

I just called him. Stupid me forgot to ask him if the buggy still starts. It does and sounds fine. Has to be something with the belt. I'm thinking it might have started to shread and parts of it got wrapped around something that's why it started bogging down.

Does the buggy move, or try to move, when he revs the engine?
No: belt could be wrapped around the driven unit or there could be something going on w/ the output shaft/bearings, axle bearings. If this is the case I'd take the chain off and see if the axle rotates freely, then work backwards from there.
If it trys to move, are the front brakes sticking? do the front wheels rotate easily? Again the easiest thing to take off the chain then work backwards, unless you have shaft drive, in which case I'm not sure where to start.

yeah it wants to go when he starts to give it gas. He's going to take the chain off tomorrow. I guess I should hope that it still doesn't roll. Then it will have to be the belt or the clutch.

Thats what I'm going to do tonight. Took chain off and it rolls fine. Buggy is on the trailer and headed home. I'll propably change the final gear oil too. I'm curious if there are metal shavings in it.

The belt is fine. Engine rev's good with no chain. I emptied out the final gear oil. How much is supposed to be in there? I only had a bout 6 ounces. It also had a metalic sheen to it. I didn't find and metal shaving in it and didn't feel any either. Is that color normal?
