Hey guys need some help. I was out riding last weekend and noticed i busted a cv boot so i orderd a pair from norrec ind. Anyway i started cleaning and preping the axle to install the new boot and noticed that i have a cracked cv star (race) it has 21 splines its from my joyner sv 1100cc. I think the 800cc is the same size. If anyone has one they would like to sell or knows where i can find one please let me know. Thanks

Wish i could help
but...

your probably gonna have to buy the whole shaft assembly :(
...on our 650's; we all, have yet to find an alternative set of shafts (or available components) that Im aware of... but JMC and/or joynerUSA usually does have these (complete shafts) in stock

and yes from what I understand, the 11oo & 8oo share the same trans altho probably not the same cv shaft (components are apparently same just differant lengths)

Boy, that looks familiar! I got your PM, Bushwacker and I'll round up some photos and information for you as soon as possible. Like Team Farm said, the only quick fix is to buy the whole axle assembly which is about $150.00 from Joyner USA or JMC Motors. I've got some leads on a couple of CV specialists on the east coast, though. Parts may be available.

i always wonder about this....if the cv is the weak spot and no doubt it is, if you strengthen the cv with a different build, that just transfers the stress to a different component which will then fail, which would be in my guess something instead the transmission, which would be a much much bigger problem to fix.

back when there was no joyner...i got 800 axles from casey and pulled the cv's and swapped them with my 650 axle...a greasy mess but not too much work...

Those 800 axles were probably from the carbureted 800 SOHC Joyner used before the Chery DOHC. I do not think the SOHC and DOHC transmission outputs match. Team Farm has both and may be able to verify the cross compatibility of the CV's.

I'm a little (but not much considering the source) surprised at how much difficulty there is in locating the cv joints/axles/parts. If someone needs parts and has a used/broken or torn down assembly, consider calling Hartman Driveshaft and Axle and see if they would be willing to do some research/cross reference them for you guys. http://hartmandriveshaft.com/ You may have to send them the parts. Tim Hartman would be the guy to speak with. Great shop, they've done work for me in the past, lots of racing background and build work, dead solid company. If you let him know that this is common and needed (i.e. he could sell some units if he figures it out) he'd probably get you guys hooked up pretty quickly if anything exists in the oem world. if not, he may be able to build custom for you.
