Installed a new cam with a custom grind that WestCoast cam up with. and man talk about night and day on the bottom end. For those of you like me who ride tight rough hilly trails where you cannot get alot of speed. I would suggest getting in touch with WestCoast since he has come up with a great cam for this. This setup with the stock manifold works great, I tried the header which did of course help the top end but took away from the bottom end. So if you a looking for low end this cam with the stock manifold is the one. I really could not believe the difference, I would guess since I do not have access to a dyno or real test equipment like that, most likely pick up at least 50% more toque. WOW!!

yo west coast, u go to make a 320 by 325 cam that would be prime. thats for the 250 of course waht are the spect for the cam your talking about for the 800?
WEAST COAST PLASE MAKE PERFORMANCE PARTS FOR THE 250 YOU WOULD MAKE SO MUCH MONEY

Thanks Keith, I'll tell you what royal purple, if I can find a cam for your buggy I could figure it out in short order but I have many 800's so that is kinda what I stick to. You know the old saying stick to what you know. I also have these cams from mild .320 in lift to wild .395 lift so I have the spectrum covered. Big lift , good valve springs, and good turbo kit have my 800 north of 70 hp. Well that 's the big parts anyhow, there is a few other secrets that keep this rocket burnin'!!
Later W.C.

Your Welcome Westcoast, Thanks for coming up with a cam that's kinda out of the ordinary that fit our riding style, which is tight trails and rough steep hills where rpms above 3000 to 3500 are not needed to often and that would be in 1st & 2nd gear anyway and in short burst.
Also another note on this setup. I took my timing light with me while testing this over the weekend and found the for the best throdle response and pickup at low rpm operation is setting the initial timing at 9 degrees seem to work best. I tested from 5 to 12 degrees, Kept a close eye on temps while testing. I rode it about an hour at this setting and never got above 160 to 165 degrees on my temp gauge. now that being said if I get on the main road and go to 5500 rpms in 3rd gear for about a mile the temp gets up to around 190, but then cools back down to 140 or so while creeping around the trails and up and down the hills.
For our riding style 9 Degrees should work fine but if you are going to keep it tach'd out 7 Degrees would be better since it will get pretty hot at high rpms.

Excellent info!!! these are the kind of posts I LIKE.... keep it coming with the good stuff
Thanks, Alot of work though. I have not had issue with mud blocking the front windshield but the back does get dusty though. I really like the front windshield when it gets dusty keeps the dust and stuff out of your eyes.
