I was looking at the headlight assembly and can't find a way in, but it appears that the bulbs in the headlights can be replaced. Anyone ever replaced the bulbs? if so...how? Seems the stockers suck a lot of voltage off of the small battery so might go with some LED bulbs.

yes, should be a screw on the bottom side, where it mounts.

if your budget allows, LED is the way to go. they draw much less juice and give off a better quality light. if you need any specific information on watts/amps/ohms/current/etc. ask MAKENZIE71....he is the resident professional...

Thanks guys. I'm thinking bulbs will be the cheapest way to go. No night riding so they don't need too be as bright as stock.

Cool. Good to know. Thought I would lose some brightness swapping to LED.

maverick,
if you are just replacing your stock bulbs with led bulbs (1156 or 1157 equivalent push in's) they will not light up enough to give you sufficient forward lighting. they will draw less but will not light up the area in front of the buggy.

Good to know. I've been toying around with upgrading my lights as well with LEDs. Any leads on lights about the same size as the stock HH that could replace the whole light?

I'm looking for an LED replacement for the stock bulbs. Stock bulb is marked DIKE S2 12V 35/35W E4 TP.

Guys, what if I found H3 lamps that fit and swapped out the bulbs for the LED H3 bulbs I see on eBay? Just weighing all options.

two things come to mind:

1. those led bulbs mount differently than the stock "push-in" style bulbs on the HH. i don't know how you would keep them in the stock housings.
2. if you notice, these are more for a fog or accent light application. i know they say HEADLIGHT but those led bulbs are only rated from 3 to 6 watts total. your stock bulbs are 35 watts. if those diodes were 3-6 watts each (which they are not). you would have airplane landing lights....lol
the forward lighting on those would be terrible.

Hi Dave, it looks like KC Hilighters has a whole H3 lamp that might work which is why I was asking. Mount the lamp and replace the bulb with an H3.

the KC lights would probably mount o.k. but are you using
the h3 halogens or the h3 led bulbs?
the h3 halogens will draw about 5.5 amps per bulb at 55w

if you don't mind me asking, what are the KC lights going to cost you. the H3 halogen bulbs will probably run 10-15 bucks.

I didn't look that hard, but from what I can tell they can be had for around $125 shipped. I'm still weighing my modding options. I'll most likely hit the essentials first like suspension. I've got the jetting and UNI ready to be installed.

it's your choice but i can get you LED lights shipped for that price or less. if you are interested, i have a set of used 500 lumen lights i had on my kids buggy for a while but only actually used them once. 500 lumen would be about the same as a 45-50w bulb bu better light. here is a link with some info.
http://www.designrecycleinc.com/led%20comp%20chart.html
if you are interested in the led lights i have i will sell them to you for $90 shipped. this is the light.
http://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/wcs/st ... ryId=84531
they are part number 8150 (8 diode, 500 lumen)
