I am going to buy either the Carter GTR250 or GTR300. The only reason I am considering the 250 is because one of the 2 dealers in mt area has a 2007 leftover and it is $1350 less than the 300($4000 otd vs $5350 OTD)

My only concern is the differential and brake issue that they had on the earlier 250's. I know Carter fixed the problem, but how can I tell if the leftover 250 has the corrected issue or not.

Thanks

The original had a solid axle. This caused the buggy to turn very wide and brought on jokes about old American muscle...only good in a straight line. Carter fixed the problem by switching to a differential. If it has a differential instead of a solid axle, it is the new version.

Our 07 250 has the diff w indepent rear suspension but the brakes still could be better.

CV joints or Constant Volume joints as they are called are a seperation in the rear axle. Like kind of having 2 seperate axles that move indepently from one another. If it were a solid axle the axle would be one piece running from one wheel to the other with no seperation points of CV joints to the transmission or drive sprocket.

Does that explain it good enough ?

This isn't a Carter, but it has a solid rear axle for comparison:

I am thinking about buying one as well. There is one for sale here for 2499 with 7 hours on it. I think its well worth the money.

At that price I would jump on it.
