Have a carter talon 150. I am looking to improve acceleration and top end. Where I ride I don't have many big hills to climb, but I don't want to completely lose low end torque. Is this possible?
You can add some low end without hurting the top end much. Your not gonna build both short of motor work for the most part. I'm not sure how this would work but maybe you could do a bigger sproket and bigger sliders but they may just cancel each other out. If you gear it low and do every other mod you can you might get a bit more up top but not much
Ok I am going to start modding. I changed to 10g roller weights, koso 115mm variator, mrp yellow clutch, 1500 main spring, high output spark plug cable and ngk iridium plug. Now I want to work on the engine. I am thinking 180cc big bore and new carberator(will these two make much of a difference). Next where would be the best place to purchase. What carberator would you go with.
All your basic mods sound good. The internal work is night and day man. I get all my parts from BigE except my internals. I had Tom Syc do the motor at Syc Powersports. I got my 30mm slide with riser and intake from BPNW
I live in Northern NJ and there is no place around (that I know of) to work on the gy6. I really dont want to send it out to have the work done. Do you think the big bore kit is a hard mod to do. I have my own handyman business and good with my hands, but I have really never worked on engines. I pulled a small 50cc pocket bike engine once and wasnt to bad. Should i try this or leave it to a professional.
