OK, I have procrastinated long enough. It’s time to write up a review for my Coolster Challenger 6250 Dbl. But first, a little back story.

I started with a limited budget and plans to modify to poop out of whichever buggy I decided to buy. I allocated roughly $2400 for the buggy and $500 for aftermarket goodies. My criteria were as follows; the buggy had to be a two-seater, it had to have a 250cc engine minimum and it had to have IRS (Independent Rear Suspension). At first, I seriously considered the Kinroad. Great buggy, but it looked a little small and I could not get over the fact that it had a live axle rear.

I searched the internet and this forum for weeks. There are very few choices in the $2400 range that have both a 250cc engine and IRS. Then I stumbled upon the Coolster Dbl. E-gads that thing is ugly I thought. But then I noticed the price, and that it had a gear-driven IRS. My decision was made. I was going to have to live with the fact that the Coolster Dbl looked like a golf cart.

Immediately after the purchase, I had a bit of buyer’s remorse, not because of the buggy, but because of the company I purchased it from. In my search for the “perfect buggy”, I forgot to research the dealer. I purchased the buggy from MXMotorsports, and then found a slew of negative comments and reviews on the internet regarding this dealer.

Now as some of you already know from reading my other posts, I have had a lot of experience buying Chinese ORV’s from the internet, so I already knew the drill. I just hoped my buggy was in decent shape, with all the parts accounted for.
I got lucky this time around. However I have been burned in the past.

Ok that’s enough backstory, on to the review. Put simply, I love this buggy! I am very impressed with the build quality and performance(I know, Chinese and quality are a bit of an oxymoron). There is very little information regarding this buggy on the internet, and most of what I found were complaints about the brakes and harsh ride. I completely disagree with both assessments. I would argue that ride quality is very good. The seats are extremely comfortable. And the brakes, including the emergency brake work very well. Of course I spent hours tuning the brakes prior to riding. Apparently it was time well spent, because my brakes work great! What’s more, the looks are beginning to grow on me. I swear this thing looks much better in person because it certainly does not photograph well. Lol!

Now would I recommend this buggy to others? That is an interesting question, because I would have to honestly answer yes and no. Yes, the buggy is awesome and well worth $2400. However, I don’t think any of the dealers that carry Coolster are on Santa’s good list if you know what I mean, so purchasing this buggy will be a bit of a cr&p shoot.

However, if you are good at wrenching, and you realize that when buying these things from the internet that the buyer/seller relationship ends as soon as you hand over the money, then you will be more than happy with the Coolster Challenger 6250 Dbl. It has certainly exceeded all of my expectations.

I love it! I couldn't be happier with my purchase. However, I know I got lucky. Next time I will not take such a chance with an Internet dealer. I will purchase from one of the dealers in this forum. Most likely you BigE, that's if and when the REvo comes out. :D

The 440 is going into the Revo 150. :D There are two complete 440 snowmobiles for sale in Craiglist for $250 each. I'm thinking, buy the Revo 150 and spend nothing on mods. Then when the time comes drop a 440 in it. Speaking of which I need to talk with funnyman to figure out how this works. If you already have the gear drive and IRS, couldn't you pretty much just put a variator on the 440 output shaft and keep the bell clutch attached to the gearbox, and then just run a belt between the two. Seems like it would be a real easy thing to do to me.
