I hope that long intake snorkel works better than mine did.

John, after thinking about it I actually don't remember if there was anything about it as a "Reaction". I do recall the Baja 150 being in print on a sign at the Buggy. It did have the Howitt motor and I assumed it is a nominal 150cc size. What other sizes could it be as a gy-6?

Yeah, the flex hose is just to get the filter higher from the ground. The hose doesn't flex, it's stiff. I have not mounted it yet. The flex hose fits into the enlarged end of the conduit. I plan to RTV it in place. Thanks to BIGE for the suggestion to look at the plug to see if this contraption makes the engine run lean.

The concern over long intakes is that it is more restrictive, but of more concern to me is the plastic tubing you are using. The I.D. of it is much smaller than your carb's intake diameter, causing it to be pretty restrictive in itself. It will still work though so don't let me discourage you, by all means experiment away.

Maybe the best of both worlds would be to put a large Unifilter (at least a 2" one) close to the carb, then have it in some sort of large box or tube, connected to some really big 4-5" dia. tubing or something, like they use to eliminate dust in workshops? running to the top of the rollcage? I don't know, I guess I'm stuck with cleaning that filthy thing all the time.

The new buggy that everyone is getting from costco is not a Dune 150, that is a typo... It is an early release fo the newly revised Baja Reaction... Thing of it is, there are two pep-boys dealers out here selling Baja Motorsports 250 cc buggies, that look just like twister 250's!!! My only problem so far is, why are people selling these things under a wrong name, at HUGE stores, and there is not even a tiny mention of them on the Baja website, let alone the option for bigger engines!!!!! Baja still has the original dune 150 on there, and I think they removed the reaction completely from the site!

The buggy you saw was probably the new reaction with the gy6, and that is a cool buggy, but I am trying to see if anyone else ahs seen this new 250 buggy from baja... Is it a rip-off from twister or whomever? anyone got pics?

John

I really wanted it to work because I thought it would solve the dust & water issues. Plus it looks cool as devilville. It's all here:

Kell had an interesting idea, with the filter inside a sealed box and a high intake tube. I wanted to use a tube with smooth surface inside. A corrugated flexible tube does not flow air very well (too much turbulance). I plan to try just the 90 degree elec conduit at first and not add the tube to it. That may get the filter into a cleaner area.

John - I did go to Pep Boys to look at the 250cc kart. It is water-cooled and looks similar to my Reaction 150 in design. I am not familiar with what a "Twister" looks like. I will try to take some pics and send.

I have mounted the relocated air filter and will send pics in this message. I only used the 90 degree elec conduit. This got the filter about 1.5 feet higher. Will try it out. I also put on a bike speedometer (Mavic 5 from dashbar.com, $8.95). All you have to do in program-in the wheel circumference in milimeters. I mounted mine on the left front wheel.

Your filter is already touching the brakelight. What happens when the swingarm moves upwards?
