Thoughts on the cvt being in a sealed cover.did the cvt get some kinda fan action when used with a scooter?ive thought of putting a screen on the stock snorkle and taking off the round clutch cover and mounting a screen, get some air flowing.thoughts?

The only problem would be getting water in there. It would help it cool though.

It probably depends on the conditions you ride in,
mud, water, sand, I would say leave the cvt cover on

I dont know why you realy need a cover... unless the setup is much different than the FL250's... the FL250's have no cover what so ever

The snorkle in the front is a mystery,i saw a scooter and noiticed its cvt cover had the capped snorkle that went nowhere also.im going to take off the snorkle and the clutch cover and put on a screen since mud and water isnt a problem here.

the front rubber pipe on the cvt cover is a breather. when the variator fan spins it sucks in air through there and pushes it back the clutch and out the back of the cvt cover. i dont know why it would have been capped off. that would make it run hotter. just like mine got clogged with mud and i burned up my clutch and cvt belt.

Ill need to look at it again but it didnt seem like a vent to me.if it did function as one.i took off the snorkel and wanted to find some kind of mesh,i ended up using a scrub pad,it seems pourous enough.and i put a metel screen in place of the clutch cover.if i lived where there was any real water my thinking on this would be different.i also thought about guys with snowmobiles, they carried spare belts and the cvt assembly was in the open when you opened the cowling.mabe someone knows more about this since im from arizona.my clutch bell cover was kinda blue so i think it got a tad hot!

Ron 17571 - I am also considering taking the snorkle off my CVT cover and putting a screen on the clutch cover. I am in Arizona also, in Tempe. I noticed that you are running a 127.5 jet. I have a 130 now and wondering if I am running rich. I know it is better to run rich than lean. We should be at roughly the same altitude. Like you said, we don't get much rain but lots of heat.
