The snorkel is still a dream for me. The reality is that it didn't work on this Mikuni carb and with changing only the mainjet. I know of several guys who have snorkels on their stock carbs and they seem happy with it. I'll have another go at it sometime but for now I'm using the "upgraded redneck intake". The elbow in the pipe raises my Uni high enough to keep water out when I'm in deep water and that little extra height keeps it clean longer.
