Re: everybody in my hood gets along ok

Mon Nov 16, 2015 7:32 am

I have or had four bucks running around here. A five point. a four point, a spike and a big boy that moves so much I have never really got a count. He looks to be a nine point or bigger. He is really spooked and never stands still.

My son has a tree stand set up and has been wanting a shot at the big boy but with all the gun fire going off in my area it is hard to say how many of them are still around. I like deer meat and do take one occasionally but try to be selective as to what I shoot. I almost hate to do it but feel it is only fair. They eat my garden all the time so think if I feed them they can feed me once in a while.

i understand what your saying i come from a family of hunters and all for it if done the right way.when i did hunt i didn't try to get them to be friendly with me so to speak, also i have lost the taste for the meat.
i think my mother will get a pack of meat from her brother if she does and makes some i will eat it some
i think the last time i was out i shot one at 9:30 in morning didn't get back in until around 4 pm. field dressed just me gun, deer and alot of hills and country side dragging it in.i missed my thanksgiving dinner.

the big one the other night did get me excited some but not enough to want the meat

The older I get, the more I wish I lived on a nice big piece of land in the country, instead of this smog ridden hell hole. Beautiful land, gentlemen.

Pud, sorry to hear about your dad. When your close to them it is hard to get around that for a while. But glad to see your back and hope the knee heals quickly. My wife had hers done a few years ago and gets around a lot better now it just takes time.

Thanks guys I appreciate it.
I did look at my buggy other day I think fall 2016 was last time I started it.
It had a little gas in it with stabilizer in it.
One day I will see if she still starts lol
A lot of new faces or names but not much action like there used to be.lol

Pud, a lot have moved on to bigger and better and thus went to other sites. There are still a few of us old timers that still hang on. We held a Back to Our Roots ride this last September and it reminded us why we got into this sport. It was a Chinese only buggy ride as a lot of us still had one or two still sitting around. I feel it was a success and most of us had a ball. It looks like it may become an annual event. It sure brought back a lot of memories.
