I came across this guide today about the carburetors we have on our buggies.
It is by far the most comprehensive explanation I've seen, and I wanted to swipe it wholesale for my site, but I think I'm just going to link to it instead.

Very good article, The article does a a good job of explaining the carb, but I have to slightly disagree with the statement that the Cv carb is better than a slide carb. IMO- Keep in mind that we use our carbs for primarily off road. The CV carb was designed and intended for a smooth pavement, scooter riding type of enviroment with fuel ecomomy a priority. Our form of sport far excedes the original intent. In an off-road enviroment, the constant shaking of the carb upsets the vacum slide needle, resulting in erratic throttle and inconsitant fuel delivery. listen for stumbles the next time you catch a pot hole, hump in the path or a sudden uphill/downhill while running at speed, [ it can depend on the condition of the slide and diaphram]. It can take a few moments for the carb to recover after taking a hit. The CV is great for it's original intent but the slide carbs were designed to handle the rough stuff. In spite of my personel opinon, this article will help to work with what is handed to us

Keep in mind the article is hosted on a scooter site and is written with the scooter user in mind. Of course they're going to advocate using what's best for them.
The overall goal of posting this link was to get the excellent information contained in this article out to as many people as possible.

Exactly my point, Mike I didn't want people to get frustrated after attempts to tune the carb. We can never get enough decent info.
