If I add a header that is more open than the stock header on my SS will I notice a difference in the power? I have the stock carb and a UNI filter on it now and I am looking for more power. Where is the best place to buy a header for the SS? Custom muffler shop? Thanks, Clint

You need a little back pressure to maintain low end torque. If you open the exhaust so there is no restriction, it will run better at higher RPMs but will not pull as well in the lower RPMs.

This is the custom header & exh system on my SS (courtesy of Leenanj, the former owner), Complete w/uncappable header -- best of both worlds -- & automotive style muffler...

Thanks for the replies. I think I can control the amount of back pressure I have with the Plate/Baffle style spark arrestor that I bought. I would hate to loose the low end torque this buggy has, But I would like more power. Has anyone experienced a noticable increase in power by using a larger diameter exhaust header? I would like to increase the diameter to match the diameter of the stock muffler. Does anyone have this on their Sand Spider? Thanks, Clint
Team Farm, I saw on another thread that you were looking for a new frame. Mabey a year ago there was a thread about a " Project Sand Spider". The Spider had a trashed transmission and the owner was trying to sell the whole thing for $600.00. try looking for "project" in the search, you mabey will get lucky.

Currently there is a problem with searching this site since the end of 2007 through 2008 is not indexed properly. Jabo will hopefully get this figured out...
Here is a good link about 650 exhausts and the Fast Freddie carburetor:
