I decided to put an end to the dirty diaper that china-built buggies have thrown me for the past three years (broken welds, engines, belts, etc), and get something that was high enough quality to withstand the test of time. I've been wanting one for a couple years; I purchased a 1983 Honda Odyssey FL250! I got a great deal on it, and managed to sell my Charger 150 china buggy to pay for the majority of it. The Odyssey is one unique and awesome toy, with tons of power and many features ahead of its time. It is still in excellent shape... the previous owner rebuilt it in 1997 and hardly drove it sence. Buying the Odyssey was one of the best choices I've ever made when purchasing an ATV. The quality of a Honda just cannot be beat! I WILL NEVER GO CHINA AGAIN.

What pushed me to make the switch was that last winter I prchased a 1987 TRX 125 off of a good friend of mine, it had been sitting in his barn for about 5 years with gas and oil still in it. He warned me that it probably wont start, but it turned out to start and run perfect with just a few shots of starting fluid! The quad hasn't given me one problem sence and burns no oil.

Anyways, tell me what you think, and be more than welcome to share your Honda Odyssey stories with me. :D

The FL 250s have J arms and some pretty bad shocks in front...no suspension in the rear. The 350s have dual a arms and rear independant with shafts...like a Pilot.
They are a lot of fun...that one looks mint!
There are better shocks for the front end-Ive seen them on Ebay for $99.

Congratulations on the new old toy. I feel your pain (sort of). I try and mention in all my posts that Chinese made ORV’s are not for the faint of heart. They are for people who like to wrench. But hey, it gives me a certain sense of comfort to know that the Chinese can’t build high-quality, reliable goods at absurdly low prices. The day they start making goods as well as Japan did during the 1980’s, is the day I am moving my entire family to Peking and changing my name to Chew, because it will be all over for the good old US of A.

Hope you're brushing up on your Mandarin. That day is closer than you think.

You know one thing that is kind of cool about owning an older Honda Odyssey, is that is the engine gives up the ghost you could always replace it with a Chinese made CN250. :D

Seriously though, it has been my experience that the Chinese made Honda and Yamaha engines are pretty darn good.

If Honda made a 4-stroke version of the Odyssey/Pilot, I would of had one a long time ago...

Why do you not want a 2 stroke? I rather like them.
