I just did the UNI redneck filter and drilled four 3/8 12”holes in the stock exhaust.I am using a 127.5 main jet and a stock 35 pilot jet I recently cleaned out. I am at about 1,000 feet Elevation.
When I go from foot off the throttle and dump it to full throttle there seems to be a flat spot where it is starved for fuel. It does not last very long then it takes off to a fast full throttle and runs very strong all the way up to full throttle. The plug looks good nice and brown. Should I try a little bigger pilot jet?

pinball i think before i would change the pilot jet i would richen up the mixture screw just a tad more, it sounds like your close and shouldn't take much more like a 1/8 to 1/4 turn out (counter clockwise )for gas let the engine warm up good and give that a try first.
might be just what you need

I installed the 38 pilot (THANKS BIGE!) and I adjusted the mixture screw for max RPM. I still have the flat spot. If I just slowly increase the speed to WOT it runs fine. It idles very well and the spark plug still looks good.

i know you put a new intake on but check to see if you have any leaks.
are you adjusting the carb after engine has warm up and choke has shut off,if not you probably won't get a true adjustment.then once choke shuts the extra gas off you could be going a tad lean.
that is if you are adjusting it before choke shuts off.
just my thoughts

I did check the new intake for leaks. No leaks now. I am letting it warm up before adjusting it. I tried a 42 pilot jet today but I still have flat spot. I think I will try shimming the needle jet.

ok i thought i would ask.maybe thats what you need. most usually you don't hear of guys having to do that until you go past a 130 and up main jet. thats what i have noticed but that does seem like that might help your problem. hope that does it for you.
also while your in there cut 1 turn off your big spring and that will give you a snappyer throttle responce.make a difference i think another good little mod
