I got an FMF slip on for my 150 this week. Instructions say use the "OEM pipe coupler". There's a radiator hose clamp in the bag. Is that the high tech coupler I use? :P

What about using High Temp Silicone? Where do I get that and what is it called? Even needed?

Well the red says good up to 650.

The one color I don't have in my tool box.

i use the permatex ultra copper hight temp rtv silcone.
haven't usesd it on a muffler but i have put a pinch between cheek and gum.wait that is my chewing. :)
no seroiusly i use it and put a dab around my exhaust gasket before putting it in the head, helps to hold it in place and not fall out when i pull exhaust off
its supposed to be good up to 700 degrees it holds up good on the exhaust gasket.
they say wait 24 hours for it to set up.
i like he black high temp to use it on intake gasket going to head it really holds up well to.

just my thoughts
pud

when installing the fmf make sure you slide it as far onto the header as you can get it, use the ultra cooper around the inlet, just a dab. then connect the mounting clamp as original was. the hose clamp is really all thats needed for the inlet of the muffler, thats what fmf supplies

Thanks, I just wanted to be sure that is what it was for.

I should have ordered my Vapor from you Eric. I'm too methodical about things and don't want to do any mods till I get some base line numbers from my buggy stock. Then I can do the same tests mod for mod as I add stuff. It's my OCD. #-o

I tried to be nice and spread my parts out between a few of the dealers on here. I got my parts from you last Thurs but I'm still waiting on the Vapor. Turns out today is a holiday for the USPS so I won't be getting it today.

I got around to installing the slip on last night.

I can't get the header pipe far enough into the slip on. Once I got the header to the end of the 3 slits in the slip-on it stopped. I'm beating on the header with a rubber mallet and it won't go anymore. I'm afraid to hit on the slip-on.

I don't know what to do.

the way I do it is to cut the old muffler off right where it mates to the header, slide the fmf on until it bottoms out, then put the clamp on.
