I am building a Shredder (with some minor mods). Engine is 6.5HP @3600, to which will be attached a TAV2 with a 10 tooth sprocket. Rear tires will be 18" on a 1' live axle.

What tooth count should I be looking at in a drive sprocket?

All help greatly appreciated!

My brother got the carts now Ill go over there sometime and see whats on there

Thanks, much appreciated.

I have a bunch of welding to do before I'm ready for the sprocket anyway. Received the parts I needed to order today, and picking up my metal stock this weekend. I figure I sould have enough of the components cut to start actually welding the following weekend.

The Comet converter is a good unit... I maintain the one on a relatives Manco. I recommend you print out the maintenance pages at the Comet web site and follow them closely, and also order the special Comet spray lube that they sell for their converter internals. The bushings and other moving parts in their converters have to be kept clean and lubricated... their lube is oil-less, grease-less and doesn't attract dust and dirt. It's pricey but trust me... well worth it. Silicone spray will not work well in these converters with bushings and sliding pulley components. Following Comets maintenance procedures to the letter will save belts, time and money.

Thanks.

Looking at the Comet site, I can find the general docs here

http://www.hoffcocomet.com/comet/pdf/16 ... 30-new.pdf

which do show how to install it, but they give no maintenance procedures.

Can't seem to find any maintenance instructions...

.... before hitting submit, I did some more Googling, and found a diagram here, near the bottom of the page

http://www.comettorqueconverters.com/asymapp.htm

that shows which surfaces need to be lubed. When I get to the point where I need to actually do this, is there anything else I will need to know? I am sufficiently mechanically inclined that the assembly / disassembly does not concern me. I am ok with working with the exploded diagram in the Comet doc for that.

Picked up a 48 tooth sprocket today. We'll see how that works...

At least a sprocket is easy enough to change.

No big deal. Like I said, they are easy to change anyway.

Cheers

So I had a box full of parts arrive today, including the TAV2. Took the docs out of the box to see if they had actually included anything beyond what I found on their site.

They did include a maintanance sheet, but surprisingly, it did not give any lube direction. Seemed to be mostly focussed on the belt.

<shrug>

Not like it should be hard to figure out with what I have already been told / found, but one would think...

Hey gcarter95, can you update your profile with your location. It helps us help you a lot better.

Thanks and good luck with the TAV2.
