OK, I followed the manual and used this bolt to drain my oil and while trying to get this bolt out it was rediculously tight, when I finally got it out there they were, nice pieces of thread from the case. I have since flushed the buggy several times wasting numerous quarts of new oil. And I now know I can drain from the bottom where the filter/screen is.
My question is, since I'm at work and not home, does anyone know the size and thread of this bolt? I would like to pick one up on the way home and just rethread it and see if that works, if not I guess I am going to have to find something to seal off that bolt completely and cover. I did get the bolt to go back in VERY CAREFULLY but it will not get tight enough to stop a slow drip...

Any Help PLEASE??????

i just changed my oil the other day and can't remember what the threads look like or wrecnch size for bolt head but i think its between 15 and 17mm wrench size.

hope that helps some

Course. If it wont thread then you can tap it. Or even try loctite or a little rtv on the bolt. But tapping it would be best.

In a pinch a red neck might wrap a striped bread tie around the bolt 8-[

The first time i changed my oil, the same thing happened. When i went to tighten the bolt, the threads where stripped. I got a .020" oversize 1/2-13 oil plug at auto parts store and retapped it with a .005" oversize 1/2-13 tap. Thread pitch is almost identicle to the metric pitch. Worked great.

i also used a shop vac to suck chips out of drain hole and blew compressed air through oil fill hole, then ran a quart of oil through.

been there, done this, after several years of frequent oil changes the threads in the drain plug hole gave it up. i can't remember the exact thread/bolt size but I simply went up one size , retapped the drain hole, saved the oid oil to flush out chips. you have to go up on the length of the bolt bcause the bolt head just fits inside the case seat and you can't get a wrench on it. A 1/2 in.longer bolt with a neoprene spacer gets the bolt head in the clear for removal. no problems. the neoprene gives a good seal and the bolt won't freeze in. The longer bolt, out past the case makes it easier to get a wrench on it. so much easier that I replaced the bolts in all the motors this way.
