I just replaced my drive belt and it lasted only an hour. Cart ran fine in low gear. in high gear, it was not as powerful as before. My son says the belt cover was really hot when the belt broke. Any ideas???
Any tips/tricks for changing/replacing the belt??? When I did it, i removed the front pulley and "expanded" the rear pulley. I then looped the belt over the rear and then over the front pulley. I then put the front pully back on and then tightend the retaining nut. Is this the correct way to do it? could the belt not be tight enough and slip on the pulley causing "heating"??
Which HH250 do you have, and which belt did you get?
The 250GTs use an 828x22.5x30 belt, and the 250ss uses an 868x24.2x30 belt.
If you have a 250ss and used the smaller belt you probably just stretched it out and it broke because it was too short.
Also, when a belt breaks, make sure to remove as much as possible of the black chunks and dust from inside the CVT area, cover, and vent snorkels (if you have them). All of that leftover crud helps trap heat in the CVT area and leads to faster belt failure.
The CVT area typically heats up pretty significantly, so you want to have really good air flow through there for cooling, and make sure the variator fan is intact as that is what creates the air current.
