I have a 2007 Roketa GK-34A
4 Seater
800cc EFI
Turbo
Aluminum Fuel tank
Moved Radiator

Ok, well I took it out for the first time this weekend. I was not expecting this to be the fastest buggy around but this thing felt like a dog. It seems like 1st gear and 4th gear are not correct and make taking off pretty darn slow and then 4th gear is basically useless. The turbo is sure a great help but would be nice if it came in at a lower RPM to help get up to speed faster. I am going to Glamis in 2 weeks and I am afraid this is just going to sit in camp as it will not be able to get around. May really have to look into paddles this week but worry it may still not have enough power in first to get the paddles spinning.

Any suggestions are greatly appriciated as I want to keep this buggy and have fun with it right now I am just thinking there is no way I can go anywhere I would want to with this setup

Are you saying 1st gear is to high? What about 4th what is it doing? Rear tire size is the easiest way to drop the gearing.

In sand you cannot drop the rear due to the intial dig at take off. I used to bury the rear of SandSpider when I ran the 23" paddles (but i could sure spin them). Now I run 26" paddles and can get around better, but it makes the engine and clutch work harder...

I had thought any buggy 2006 and newer came with the Low Ratio trani. It sounds to me as if you have the high ratio. As of now after installing the low ratio trani. 1st gear ( very low and short)is used about 10 % of the time 2-3 is 80% and 4th is 10%. I think alcurad has the same buggy as you (4 seater)and runs the dunes with no problem. Not sure what tires he is running. I've got 26 sandblasters with 16 paddles. But in your case you should stay witha smaller tire 25"with less paddles maybe 10. Try skat-trak tires.

I am not sure what tranny it has. 1st gear just did not seem to get the buggy rolling very easily. 2nd and 3rd is what I ran around in as I went to 4th all that was gained in 3rd with the turbo running was lost in 4th as the rpm was not high enough to get the turbo running. I am new to buggies especially these smaller ones. I almost want to put it back for sale but the wife loves the size of the buggy. Also looking for suggestions on a muffler as it has a "Straight Pipe" and is a little loud

In my case the size of the buggy and all the mods I've done I am still at the brink of just enough power. In your case a couple hundred pounds plus more body's :( in my opinion no matter how many mods you add it's still an 800cc motor. To push that buggy at a nice HP you need at least 100 HP. With the turbo and any other mod you may be pushing it at 50-60 hp. Sorry

It really sounds like you have the older transmission on that thing. Did yo usay it has a straight pipe, as in no muffler?? If you're running a straight pipe on it, you might not be getting the back pressure you need in the motor. THAT can cause very sluggish performance.

Yea I just bought the thing and the exhaust just comes out of the turbo into a straight pipe. That was a thought that it could use more back pressure.

What exhaust do people recommend?

The turbo should provide back pressure to allow the engine to run fine. The only reason most people add a muffler to these systems is for spark arrestor or noise restrictions.
