I have a cbr600 motor, and by looking on ebay it seem that I have 530 sprockets? If so is there an industrial equivalent. I need sprockets for my jackshaft. Thanks

Greg

greg,
i just went through this with my sprocket change. mine is also 530 or #50 industrial. you will probably find a better selection and better pricing looking at the #50 sprockets and chains.

Then the sprockets and chain on this motor must be something different. A #50 series sprocket is too thick, plus the teeth have larger spacing. What size is common for atv's?

The OEM CBR600 uses 525 chain and sprockets unless it has aftermarket sprockets - Then it probably is a 520 sprocket and chain.

I'm pretty sure it oem. Does that mean I need custom sprockets for the jackshaft, or is there an industrial equivalent?

You can get 525 sprockets, but they are not as common - That is why many were converted to 520. Industrial goes from #40 = 425 to next size of #50 = 530.

The first digit is pitch in 1/8" increments. The next two digits are inner width in 1/80" increments.

Talk about throwing a monkey wrench in the gears. i really planned on using the sprockets and axle that came with the buggy. It's 1.25" with a 3/8" keyway for the sprocket and brake hub. The biggest problem would seen to be getting a sprocket for the jackshaft that matches the engine sprocket.

The easiest may be to find 530 or #50 sprockets that fit the engine and axle. Then you can go with standard common sizes. If you have room, you may be able to weld the correct sprockets on the old ones.

Yeah I'll get something worked out, after I finish sulking. The biggest thing is, it will turn out to be a large unexpected expense...ouch!

greg,
once you figure out what size sprocket you need for the jackshaft do some googling. i did a whole lot of surfing the net to find a rear 45t sprocket for my hammerhead and it had the exact bolt hole & center bore i needed for $30 shipped to my door. i've seen 520 &530 top sprockets under $10 on the web.

I appreciate the encouragement...I'm still sulking...this makes 4 sprockets to buy , instead of 2, plus some precision drilling. who knows mabye I'll luck out, but right now I'm ticked. I feel I was days from removing the motor for final welding. :(

Don't give up. Getting the gearing and drivetrain down is always time consuming for everybody. What if you could find a #530/50 sprocket for the CBR... then everything else falls into place, right?
