We're safely back home with the buggies in the garage under their own power. Almost 5000 miles and 500 gallons later, it's time to get back to the grind and save up for another trip.

Glad to hear your back home. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. It helped me fill the gap of not being able to go this year. Hopefully we'll be able to meet up at next year's bash.

We used only about 10 gallons of fuel in the buggies, but used more for the trailer generator than expected. Due to the heat and humidity, we were running the Trailer AC 4-6 hrs/day whether on hookups or dry camping. An AC load will bring consumption up to 1/3 or 1/2 gallon/hour.
The stock Ford diesel had no problems towing 10,000 lbs. across the 6400 ft. pass on I-90 or the 7000 ft. pass on I-80.

I have a 2005 6.0 liter Powerstoke diesel with variable pitch vane turbo. Typically I get 12-13 mpg towing 9500 lbs. at 55-60 mph. But with an extra 1000 lbs. weight (I swear I brought 500 lbs of tools and parts I didn't need), driving 60-65 mph and the AC running constantly, I averaged 11 mpg. My trailer has a fairly large draft since the front face is 8.5' x 10' and it slopes upward to 12.5' - With a cab-high canopy, my truck is just under 7' x 7' and I could see the bug splats on trailer outlining the truck.
