F-16Guy - Where are you getting your avgas? I used to buy it from airport#2 in SL valley but that was 25 years ago in my drag racing days - I don't know if they will sell it to us un-avaition types anymore. Have you been able to find a local source for racing gas?

I used to buy it all the time at a municipal airport by my house in Phoenix. I haven't bought any up here, but down there they would only sell it to you into a gas can. They would not (could not) despense it into any vehicles because of EPA laws. There's a small airport just north of me (Ogden-Hinckley?). If I ever try to buy some from them, I'll let you know how it goes. My quad was right on the verge of race gas territory down in Phoenix, but up here in 5K foot land, cylinder pressures are lower and I haven't needed it.

I've got some leads on racing gas locally and I'll check the avgas situation at Airport #2 within the next few days. I'll let you know what I find.

Leaded fuel will destroy your O2 sensor, so I don't think I'd use it in the Joyner. Adding lead is the cheapest and easiest way to increase a fuel's octane rating, but there are other ways. Unleaded race fuel is pretty common these days, but it costs more.
BTW -- I'm staring at a yard full of leaves and trying to come up with excuses why I shouldn't clean them up today.

I used to buy race gas at the drag strip in NC. Do you know if Rocky Mtn raceway has race gas pumps?

Did you find a fitting that threaded into the turbo so you could use the steel line? What was the size of it? Also, did you find a fitting that goes into the block? Please let me know as I have the same issue. Thanks.

I couldn't identify the threads on either end on the oil inlet fitting, but the outer end was just the right size to tap to 1/8" male NPT. I ground off the existing threads and tapped it to 1/8" NPT. Then I attached a 90 degree female 1/8" NPT x 1/4" compression fitting and used 1/4" steel brake line to a 1/8" pipe tee installed before the oil pressure fitting, and plumbed it in with a male 1/8" NPT x 1/4" compression fitting.
The return fitting is just a male 3/8" NTP x 1/2" hose nipple. I didn't really like the idea of trying to make the fitting hold in a hole poked in the oil pan, so I drilled and tapped a hole in the side of the block towards the rear. I had my engine apart recently so I knew just where to drill. If you need more info on how/where to do this, let me know.

Jaxn , your not telling me your turbo kit didnt come with all the fittings for your engine are you?? There is a very simple return oil solution we use with our kit that works great and no drilling or welding ,all bolt in. Your kit looks good but I sure would like to see that air filter up in the clean air and away from all the engine heat and dust.
The threads your looking at I belive are Dash 4-6 or 8 ,
F-16 GUY is an airplane mech., he should jump rite on that.

Actually, the kit came complete with everything to hook it up, but I didn't like the idea of running hot pressurized oil through a 3/8" fuel hose to the turbo. Blow that hose off and your engine has about 30 seconds til death.
I would much rather have my air filter up in the clean cool air but the throat of the turbo air intake is 2.36" in diameter which makes finding a 90 degree air intake pipe a real chore. Also, airflow is reduced through a long intake pipe. Right now the filter has a Jaxn Performance Engineering high flow foam sock on it which does a real fine job of stopping sand without slowing airflow. I'm in the process of installing an intercooler which should more than solve the intake air temp situation.

Cool Jaxn, that does sound like a better solution than fuel hose with hot oil in it. Our kit does have steel lines for the presure side , I would love to put steel braded with jic fittings in the kit like my personal rails have but the kit would be too expencive that way. I run the empe air sock and they seem to last and work good. The pipe length restriction is far out weighed buy getting to good cool clean air, from our dyno testing anyhow.
