The GTR is not a Roketa with fancy stickers. That is an absurd and ridiculous thing to say. TJ Powersports ( hammerhead) used to build the older TALONS, but the GTR is built in Carter's own factory and no one else has that design. They build a lighter version for ACE, but that's it. The '08 talons are now built by Carter as well.

They have their American facility and a facility in china that Carter keeps 10 Americans on staff to oversee production adn they use robotic welding. Joyner is a good kart, but it is not built stronger than the GTR. They both use 12 and 14 gauge mild steel. And a 300cc bolt on is not going to match the 300cc SYM, which makes just as much power as any 400cc on the market.

Well I just got back from seeing the Hammerhead at the dealer and I dont mean to offend anyone but from just looking at it, it really does not even compare to the Carter 300. It looked much cheaper and of less quality. Just my opinion

I will admit that I havn't followed every new thing carter is doing. If they have steped up finally to build something in the same class as the Joyner, then good for them. But try telling that to the guys around my area that bought the older carters, and kinroads and blades, all of which are available to by directly from china to anyone with the money. They are basicly roketas with stickers. The joyner has been developing a product for years. They have a dealer network and parts that are needed. They are miles ahead of Carter and will probably stay that way. You can see from my avatar I have quite a few buggies and have owned many more over the last few years. Buy what you want but that will not change the fact that the Joyner is the top of the line buggy out there, at least right now.[/quote]

Go on pretty much any sandrail forums you can find and you will see a very LOW opinion of Joyner specifically. Common complaints are the shafts, breaking welds, incomplete welds, lack of power. I had a friend that bought a 1600, the one they ended up discontinuing. It had no oil pressure and Joyner had no idea how to fix it. They ended up buying it back from him. When he took it back there were 3 others in the shop with the exact same problem.

Carter has 1200 dealers nationwide. May of those are actual authorized service centers. A lot of R & D went into the development of the GTR and the new line of Talons is still in R &D. They have a huge facility in Alabama where they extensively test their product. Have you ever even ridden in a GTR? Doubtful, or you wouldn't call it a re-stickered Roketa.

My point isn't to knock Joyner, but they aren't any better or more reliable than any other top tier brand and THAT is just the fact. There are too many people with bad experiences out there to give them any special claim to excellency.

You are actually making my point for me. "They bought it back" something most other buggy companys wouldn't do. I have not ridden a GTR, and as Ive already said if they have steped up great. However I have ridden in several Carter Bros carts, and to say that they were any better than the other Junk carts out there would be total BS. Joyners are not perfect, they are not even as good as the Japanesse stuff out there. But they have proven they are better than the other chinese karts out there. It is obvious that you are bias toward Carter Bros, maybe even part of the company. My question to you is have you ever had any experiance with a Joyner. I have had dozens of people tell me how great there (insert any chinese brand) and yet most if not all of them have only owned or driven one buggy, the one they own. Between myself and four other guys local to my area we have owned and driven virtually all the different buggies out there, including three or four carters. When you have done some real research you will probably come to the same conclusion as I have, (I wasnt always a Joyner fan) Joyners are the best built chinese buggy. Sandrail forums have a very low opinion of all chinese carts, not just the Joyners. Most of that is just the same BS you are spouting, a lack of KNOWLEDGE. I have two full size sandrails, and am part of the snadrail comunity long before I was part of the buggy community, when I talk to the guys out there spouting there dirty diaper about buggies to a man none of them have ever owned a buggy, it is always some one like a friends brother in law or something like that. I have made alot of converts, simply by showing and letting them drive my Joyner 650 turbo. I know you like your carter, and for the sake of the buggy world I hope they are building better buggies now, but there old stuff was no better than a Roketa.

Lets not act like kids and turn this into my kart is better than yours. If it has four wheels and runs well enough to make you happy and have fun on, what should it matter who made it or how much you paid for it? I have a Carter and like it. I have seen and riden in Joyner and I like those. I have seen the Hammerheads do some awsome stuff and take a beating. So which is better.... who knows. Just get out there and ride. I just get mad over pointles squabble like this. :rant
