I wasn't trying to say anything was better than anything else. I like Joyners. Vanet was bashing the gtr without ever having been in one. He's right that for a few years Carter did import the same buggies everyone else did, but that changed and is changing. Parts and service on a Carter are just as easy to get as a joyner. Lumping them in as some drop shipper and insulting not only Carter but every other company out there was wrong.

I know no one was deliberatly. It was just stating to sound like a bounch on Ford and Chevy guys argueing about which is better. I won't say anyones kart is better or worse. That is just not me. I ride with friends that have expensive side by sides and some with cheaper off brand karts. When someone's ride breaks down I would never say their ride is junk and they should have bought this and mine is better than theirs. We fix and move on. Not everyone can afford the best but if everyone has fun then what does it matter. Are Joyners good karts, yes. Are Carter good karts, yes. Are Roketas good karts, yes. Are the karts at Sam's Club good karts, yes. I have had a blast on them all. Some have problems other don't. When someone asks me about a kart I have some experiance with I tell them all the good and bad and let them make their own decision.

Also, the first kart I had was a home made kart with a 3 horse power engine that only had one wheel driving it. It broke all the time but my brothers and I can still talk about all the fun we had on that thing. I would have "NEVER" told my dad I thought that thing was garbage because it would have broke his heart. :(

firebird you got me all wrong. I didnt run down the gtr, I simply put carter in the same class as a whole lot of other second rate buggies as being inferior to Joyner, and you didnt like that, then later you admited your self that for years they have been importing the same junk as the rest. The gtr may be a great buggy, but they have to prove that for awhile before they can come out and say, "look at us we do it better". Starting with the 2005 model joyner has been doing it better than the rest. Maybe Carter and others have steped up there game, but I want to see how they hold up over the long haul before I am going to get excited. I have two joyners both of which I bought used (Joyners are overpriced new) both are 2005s and they are as nice or better than anything Ive come across and they are four years old. I know a guy here locally who has a carter 2005 model rotting in his backyard because he gave up trying to keep it running. As I stated before we could use more good quailty buggies, maybe Carter will be one of the good guys. Van

I think your signature says it all...

That is the whole point, many can only afford to buy one buggy so we are trying to help them buy the best one first and save alot of the headache from buying a peice of garbage of which there are many out there. Many have gotten out of buggies completely because there first puchase was dirty diaper and they think all buggies are that way. As HOG said the best buggy is a running buggy, however some run alot better and more often then others. Van

Let me clarify something,
I am brand new to this whole buggy thing and the only reason I am getting one is so that my son and I could spend some quality time with each other while having loads of fun. He has been asking for a go cart/buggy and this is what led me to start researching them. Unfortunately I live in NJ and there are not many places that cary them. I want something big and pwerful enough for both him and I and something that he can grow into. To be quite honest the $$ is not a real factor in it. I could go out and get something for 10k, but I dont want to. I just want something that is going to be reliable and fun for both of us. Basically I have 3 in mind right now and I came up with some pros and cons for each

Carter GTR300 $6367 with Tax and trailer
Pros
24HP
Seems well built
Was able to see it in person and drive in it
Dealer is about an hour away
Very roomy inside
Like the size of the factory wheels

Cons
Widest of all buggies which would require a larger trailer(6x10)
Most expensive $5000.00

Joyner 250 $5016 with trailer
Good reputation
Seems well built as well
Price fair $3999 shipped to my house

Cons
No dealer in my area so can only see pics on the internet
14 HP
Have to go with 6x10 trailer with this as well

Twister Hammerhead 250SS $4919 with trailer and tax

Pros
Dealer abt 40 minutes from me
Not as wide can go with 5x10 trailer
Price
Has a lot of bells and whistles on it
19HP

Cons
Small inside
Seats- ugly and not comfortable
Seems the cheepest quality-doesnt look as well built

That pretty much sums it up, except for two things, one the joyner and the twister use the same engine so the hp figure would be the same for each engine, probably the lower since most of these out fits publish bogas HP claims, includeing the 24 hp for th Carter. And two, Joyner has dealers in all 50 states, so even though you may not know it, there is probably a joyner dealer in your area. go to thunderinc.com there web sight and do a dealer search to find one. I know there are three dealers in New york, not sure how many are in Jersey or where you are at exactly. Van
