I am quite happy with the BMS/Roketa 1100 I purchased awhile back now that I've gotten the usual Chinese engineering/manufacturing problems ironed out. Nice thing about the BMS is that it has a one year warranty and BMS has been very good about parts and info.I've only got about 200 miles on because, well darn it work, family, life etc. just gets in the way of having fun. The engine is loosening up and the torque is great. However, is it just the California model that has the catalytic converter? Might gain some top end w/out it.
Question is, what would happen if I eliminated it? Would the engine lean out or the efi freak out. The O2 sensor is before the cat just out of the exhaust manifold. I'm from the big carb, cam, compression, and exhaust era and not too keen about these things.
Thanks, TB

Got an answer to my own question. The Cat and the O2 sensor communicate with each other. To eliminate one would screw up the other, therefore the efi would wig.

Hi thrown,First do you live in cal.and plan to drive on the street. If so i would keep the cat. If not well,if there is only one oxygen sensor before the cat OBD1 you can get rid of the cat with no ill affects and the efi would compensate for the reduction in back pressure, it would help acceration, the cat. is very restrictive. If there are sensors before and after the cat OBD2, yes after removing the cat. it would throw trouble codes. Hope this helps Ghost

This is too wierd. I have not looked @ this post in a long while, and just spoke with someone in AZ today who told me the exact same thing! I do live in CA and don't think I could ever get this buggy reg. for the street. I know you can in AZ. However, I guess it is easy HP and there should be no prob. since there is only one O2 sensor before the cat.
Thanks Ghosthunter! :D

By the way, does any one make a Cat. eliminator pipe section for these things or do you just wrench the mid pipe off and take it to a muffler shop and have one made?
Thanks again!

Hi Thrown, most guys take a long 1/4" drill bit, bore holes through the honey comb material, then take a rod and hammer and punch out what left. The material is brittle but soft, when all the material is removed reinstall the pipe,it will look like your running the cat.Ghost

sounds good, but I will have to cut the pipe I guess in fron of the cat since it is welded in the middle of the mid pipe. You can see a picture on BMS parts.
Thanks

Hi thrown, id probley have a muffler shop cut and weld a new section on that pipe,Tell them its strictly off road vehicle so they don't give you any guff. Ghost Oh come to the bash, you have a great time, hope to see you there. Ghost

Visited my buggy today and now know that a little surgery will have to be done to the mid pipe. Changed all the fluids, forgot the oil filter wrench, to get ready for the season. My problem with getting to the bash is that I leave my buggy up at my property. I only have a 90 Mazda pickup, so I have to borrow a truck and trailer from a friend when I really need to transport the buggy and heavy items. I will see if I can borrow one and definately PM you Geek for directions, etc.
Thanks for all your help. You guys are great!
