Well let me clear this up. I checked the timing at 3000rpm and 4000rpm using my "back to zero" timing gun. The centrifical advance is ~ 25 deg. With 15 deg initial, that makes 40deg all in. This was too much. I backed the initial timing down to ~11 deg for 36deg total timing. I did this before heading out to the desert.
Upon making my first test drive, I found myself going way too fast for conditions. Even third gear was pulling. Acceleration was effortless. Not like having 100hp or anything, but waaayyy better than the stock machine. Not once did I feel that I was underpowered for where I was riding. It is amazing what a difference a few degrees of timing can make.
Third gear is still too tall as I drop to about 3500rpm from 5500/6000 when upshifted, but it would still accelerate and get you going way too fast for conditions. The air shocks worked great and the axles held up fine.
I did have some problems maintaining a steady low speed idle after dusting it up. I suspect the low speed air circuit. I also need a pre-filter for the K&N as it got caked in short order. Blew out the lights running them all on for an extended night run, but I keep a spare fuse in the holder, so it was an easiy fix. I just did not use the "high beams" for the rest of the ride.
All in all, I am very pleased with the performance improvement. I look forward to the new tranny and HD axles. I just hope the clutch will hold up.
Sorry no pics, no GPS speeds and no video.

Hey Larry B., It was good to see you out there this weekend.
sounds great, what a fun way to spend the weekend. I am jealous.
Still want to see some vid when you get around to it.
I had the same issue when running all of my lights, the fuse would heat up and smoke. I bypassed it completely and hard wired it together and have not had a problem since.
I had mine out last week with the new jetting and was disapointed with the top end, thought it might still be too rich. But, after further consideration, I have rememberred that the vacuum line that controls the secondaries had come un-attached and I never reattached it. I hope this remedies the problem.

Chris,
With the vacuum line off, you were only running the primary side, so yeah, hooking that back up will make a big difference. The secondary probably never opened, or only slightly at best.
Yes, it was a fun weekend. The kid's Sunl 150 had the battery die and exhaust break off at the manifold flange, but that's another story.
