Yah it really was on this one. They had so much stuff covered up I didn't know how bad it was till I started pulling carpet to clean it up.

When I get it done I would really like to come out your way and find a nice solid mid 60s sedan to put the rest of my parts in. As you know I just don't have anything to do

Would prefer it to not be in good shape, just not eat up with rust. I am cheap  Plus I may have to make a delivery out your way.

I hope that was a sedan and not a convertible.

It has been a while since I have updated this post. There may be a few that are still interested in the progress of Momma Rich's buggy so here goes.

I had got so discussed with this so it got side lined for a while. But last year I got motivated to get back to it. Ultimately it got taken completely apart and sand blasted to bare metal and built up from there. Here are some of the pictures of that progress.

Just some facts as to all that ended up being replaced. Everything from the firewall out on the engine compartmented needed to be replaced including the rear apron. The front apron, spare tire well and both front bumper mounts/ front apron extensions replaced. The rear package tray ended up being replaced as the original hack job I did just ticked me off every time I looked at it. So I cut it all out and replaced it too.

All in all I ended up replacing about 8" of the whole lower part of the body on this car which included both rear quarters, both front inner wheel well sections as well as what is known as the British hat area where the body meets the pan in the front. I had to rebuild both inner kick panel body stiffeners that only verts have.

Here is the end results. It is not completely done I still have some touch up to do. As well as pull the transmission and go through it. As I had never driven the car before this restoration I was not aware of the problem with low gear being bad. Also I had forgotten how slow a 40hp Volkswagen was so I am going back with the original plan of putting my 1776 engine in when I redo the transmission.

It looks nice. Me 40hp is still running but I have the reduction gear swing axles, so there is no top speed.
