Motous 800cc Cheetah First ride impressions with pictures (hopefully)

I still have the grin on my face!!
GPS read 48 when we ran out of road, still more to give.
The suspension ate up the bumps like they were not there, hit a speed bump at 30 with bareley a hic-up and Hit a 12 foot long and 4 foot high jump ( at apex) soft as you please without a rattle or a shake. I had no intintion of jumping this thing, but it is just begging to go higher and faster.
This thing excels on long gravel roads with lots of ruts and boulders, I was looking back for my brothers on their quads (This was the only time) The high ground clearance [8"]and tall suspension [23"]was perfect for this.

This thing goes through mud like a champ, 10 foot roosters from both wheels, sliding in and out of ruts spinning both left and right tires. Could not get it to power slide or do doughnuts because it kept pushing straight through the mud instead of sliding around.

The gears are a little tall but do not mistake that for not being a climber, If you keep it in the high RPM range, it climbs great ( short or midsized steep inclines) On long steep hills, it will draw down the RPMs and bog down (no low end torque), only one trail we could not climb and that was because it got narrow and I had to slow to a crawl and it would not move
afterwards

speaking of narrow trails, It was kind of wide for a couple of spots on the trail...so we made a new trail

Overall impression, I'm glad I bought my quad before driving this because I love my trailboss and I would not have bought it if I had bought this first.

Ok now I would never say this out loud or to my brothers, but I did notice that although we have been hitting the same jump on our quads for two years we went higher and farther on our first day than we have yet to go on our four wheelers. ( just an observation )

[edit] update:
As much as I like this buggy, I can not recommend Motous at this time.
It has been over four months and I still have not received a MCO/MSO, And they will not respond to my phone calls or e-mails. If this is how they treat a satisfied customer, I can not imagine how they would treat you if you had a real problem.

Also, the bracket that holds the alternator in place will come in contact with the axle on hard jumps.

[edit] update 5-5-06

Have completely torn up the CV joint housings on the rear axles, parts are unavailable for 4-6 wks. I am currently having custom ones made. I will add shock/suspension straps to solve this problem in the future.

WOW, I wonder what happened to all of the replies that used to be here?

UPDATE:

I am up and running and had a chance to experiment with the upgrades I had previously made. ie the K&N and Desert Kart tunable exhaust.

I have always been in the buggy, this time I was On my 330cc Polaris Trail Boss and ATV with a CVT.

My wife was in the CHeeta with two kids buckled up in the passanger seat. All I can say is wow.

I could not keep up with them. THe buggy accelerated faster and had a higher top speed.(even on hills)

I can not wait to rejet the carb. I am impressed so far.

Keep you posted.

Chris

Sorry Steve, I mixed this post up with the one on the Modifications page. I do not think anything was lost.

I am currently looking for a cart around the 800cc size. Your Motous cheetah looks a lot like one of the Roketa 800's. Do you know if it's the same? Also, were the parts hard to get ahold of? Roketa is not the same as Sunl.. is it? Keep kicking up the dirt.

The claim is that it is different from the Roketta, but there are definate ties. I got it from Motous which no longer exists. I would try Sean at Superkarts, he has been alot of help on these buggies and sells a similar version with the 1000cc for a little over 4000.00. Other members have the Roketta and the venom mamba version of this same cart.

Parts are getting easier to come by, but we usually upgrade rather that just replace  Lots of Mods are available, weber carbs, headers, turbo etc.

they have a known issue with the axles, but Gorilla axles is working on a set for a member here. I have strapped the shocks and have not had any more problems.

I am very happy with my purchase.

Chris

aparrantly he and rob have disolved their partnership and gone seperate ways. Do not know what he charges for his current 1000cc buggy.

You could probably order one from Rob at team moto...but do not expect ANY service after the sale. (not even a return phone call)

There is a guy trying to sell a teamtrix version of the cart for 4700, He has two brand new in the box.

Or you could contact Joyner, great machine with great support for twice the money.
