Made some nice progress on my second home built project. i'm going with another industrial motor on this one. I love the reliability of those motor plus the abundance of spare parts. If i go with a 16hp single cylendar motor, I should get great overal performance, plus 50mph out of this buggy.

Looking good man. You gonna do a bulk head up front? It would help support the arms and shock mounts and tie the front together. Where did you get your hubs and spendles? What are you bending with? What motor? What rear set up? What stearing box you using?

That buggy looks choice. If you go with a v-twin 16hp it will be smoother running and should have a little extra torque. I would like to see one of these buggies with a yanmar diesel engine talk about torque lol.

I am planning on using a single piece of tube arched over both shock mounts. I got the spinndles from gokartsupply.com, thier a good source for parts, and i made my own hubs. Harbor freight bender, cheap and they bjust work! I am using a 16hp single to start off with, again harbor freight for $399. The power difference between the motors is 29ft lbs to 21ft lbs. But the cost is over $1,000.
I am going to use trailing arms with u-joints sliding axels. My calculation give me 15" of travel. I purchased the steering rack from desertkarts.com, he's got most of the parts you will need for a project like this.

I just started bending and here we are. I am using 1" and 1.25" tubes. 1.25" on the frame. 1"x20' tubes cost about $25, and 1.25"x20' cost about $33. But I am using a lot of welding rods at about $15 per box.

Looks good so far. What type of shocks are you using front and rear? You say you are using sliding u-joint axles, are you able to give us a picture of the set up as you intend to make it? What type of braking will there be only one brake in the rear on the center axle? I see the spindle assembly is a standard go kart assembly, I am wondering why you aren't making your own spindles and brackets provided you are making the rest of the buggy? You could still use a standard 4 on 4 wheel hub but make a much stronger spindle and bracket that will also allow the wheels to stay absolutely straight during travel bump to bump.
