I would use the double A arm plans for that size motor. You'll find that it will handle better. Or you can just buy the cheap plans and change it your self I think the bandit is a simple buggy geared for the garage builder. Thats what makes it awsome cheap tools can build awsome toys. You don't need a high dollar bender to build it HF bender will work fine. PS. Don't pack the tube with sand its a waste of time I promise if you use the correct die it will bend clean. Remeber the HF bender it for pipe which is measured on the ID and tube is measured OD. I have used this bender for years on many projects heres a tip if you use 1" .120 wall tube use the 1/2" market die and your bends will be fine no crushing the tube.
That bend tip I will try for sure. Which HF bender are we talking? I got the hydro one that bends from the center and goes up wraping the pipe around the die. I'm working on a notcher, drill press, and band saw and if the bender dont work well, I'll be looking for one of them.
I'm just thinking long term you know. I like to weld and I like to make stuff. I've notched like your talking and use the chop or more often the angle grinder. I just want to get my garage set up decent
