Now dropped to 2099 shipping... might be some fun for the trails I can't otherwise get on with the buggys.

Steve,

your 200cc motorcycle will take you where the buggy won't. I ride it waaaay more than my buggy with two guys with honda crf450-x's and have no problem going wherever they do. Granted, I'm a fearless idiot but still, no need for a quad.

Of course, the 450's can jump 15 feet in the air without breaking upon landing, but they let me borrow their bikes for that!

heath and steve
how is you 200cc bikes? do they stand up to decent abuse. what would you change on your's if you could. i'm thinking about the 200 off road, is the power good, and the suspension, how much abuse can it take?

Bedo,

For 900-1200 these bikes go for you can not go wrong. I have 700 miles on mine and it still is in perfect condition. As a trail bike it is very solid. As a motocross bike, forget it.

My major complaint is when I ride > 50mph over rough terrain, it seems like the transmission skips. This may be due to the tire bouncing off of the ground? Does yours behave like this steve? The engine doesn't loose power but it seems like the transmission jumps in and out of gear a bit. Like I said, it may also be the back tire actually leaving the ground but since I can't look and ride at once, I'm not sure.

I've had the bike up to 75mph. That is about as fast as it will go. I have powered up hills as close to vertical as you can get. No complaints on power. I also do not notice the skipping unless I go really fast over very rough terrain. It's a subtle skip but annoying.

The shocks have amazed me. They look weak but are stronger than they appear. I have ramped the bike 4-6 feet vertical range without bottoming out. I rarely ramp it and do not intend on pushing this limit. The bike is a bit heavy at 260lbs. It's wierd to be able to lift the honda 450's into the truck with greater ease.

If your looking to trail ride (and not the easy stuff either) then go for it bedo. I have not had to adjust the valves or screw with the bike whatsoever beyond tightening things. BTW, I can easily unbolt the baffle on this bike but it is powerful enough for a 200cc. Blows the buggy away of course.

If I was going to nit pick. I do not like the positioning of the fuel filter. Also, be careful which brand you buy. They basically have the same engines, but the wheels come in wide varieties. The spokes on mine are very strong. I have seen dirty diaper ones locally which have children spokes. The tires are pretty narrow and do not do well in sand unless you are experienced. The kick start usually takes 3-5 times to start, so I almost always use electric start. Also, the quality of plastic varies widely. Some is more brittle than others I have noticed.

thanks for the report, heath. the one i was thinking about was the 200 w/o the lights. i offer them, but never actually seen them. i can get one with a pipe kit and they say, it's pretty darned good. course i wont be riding in desert, just mountains. probably not motocross it either, too darn old and fat for that. it would hurt to much. but thanks. i'll remember you input.

It's good. I haven't had the problem with surging yet.

No issues with it really other than a choke cable I had to adjust so the choke actuator wouldn't go to far and skip off the carb entirely.

I'd do the same mods as with all the carts... filter, pipe, etc. Just haven't had time for it. The engine is really smooth I know I could open it up more like the 150cc buggys.
